We will be open to the public the following hours:
Monday, Wednesday, and Friday: 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Tuesday and Thursday: 1:00 - 9:00 p.m.
Saturday: 1:00 - 5:00 p.m.

We will be following guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the state's Restore Illinois plan as we expand our services in the future. Please see for future updates.

New Requirements
In order to help protect our patrons and staff, everyone visiting the library must follow these requirements:
  • Wear a face covering or mask covering their nose and mouth at all times.
  • Maintain social distancing of at least six feet apart.
  • Wash your hands and/or use hand sanitizer often.

Adult Take & Make: Postage Stamp Collage Art
Tuesday, July 28

Check out our YouTube video premiere of "Postage Stamp Collage Art" and learn how to make a simple and beautiful collage art piece for your home.
The first 20 people to email Kristina Giovanni at or call (630) 924-2735 will receive a take & make bag that includes colorful vintage postage stamps, a 5x7 cut out design, a glue stick, and a 5x7 white frame. Supplies are first come, first served and are limited to 20 Adults. 

Anyone can follow along from home, but must provide their own supplies. Instead of postage stamps, you can use torn up magazines, stickers, or anything colorful to fill in your cutout design, which you can also make yourself by tracing a silhouette image onto construction paper and carefully cutting it out with scissors.

We will post a recipe and YouTube link on our calendar and Facebook page . It will be available for you to watch the entire day on Thursday before the video is taken down, so you can watch at a time that is convenient for you. No registration necessary.

Google provides a number of free cloud applications perfect for safe storage or collaboration with friends, family, or colleagues. Learn the basics of working with these tools to create, edit, and share documents. Students will also learn about other cloud based backup and recovery options for computers, tablets, and phones. Have some old tapes you’d like to be able to watch on a DVD player or share online? Students will learn to use library equipment to digitize VHS tapes and prepare them for modern viewing. Techniques from basic recording to more advanced tricks like chapter creation will be covered.

Virtual Art Class for Teens:
Create Your Own Character
Tuesday, August 4

Join us on Zoom to learn basic drawing techniques and draw your own unique character. Supplies needed: paper, pencils/erasers, ruler. Tracing paper, markers, or colored pencils optional. Computer, tablet, or phone is required to attend via Zoom, and the Zoom meeting link will be emailed to you the week of the event.  Registration is required and limited to 10 participants in grades 7-12.

Take It Make It: Deep Blue Sea Party

Dive deeper and explore the animals and environments of the ocean with crafts, snacks, interactive displays, music, and virtual field trips from home! Register for a kit today.

Registrants can pick up kits beginning on Monday, July 27. If you have concerns about food allergies, staff will gladly remove the individually wrapped treats from your kit upon request.

Sign up, drop in to the Youth Services area to pick up your bag of miscellaneous craft materials, then go home and design something awesome! Join our Zoom call on Thursday, August 6 for a LIVE show and tell and show off your creation. We can't wait to see and hear all about what you designed and how you did it!

BPL Building Update
The library building is reopening on Monday, July 6. All in-person library programs and meeting room reservations are canceled through August 31, 2020.

PLEASE remember that, at this time, we are NOT accepting material donations of any kind. Do not leave boxes of books, papers, DVDs/CDs, etc, outside our doors. We are not able to bring these materials indoors, and left outside they are a hazard and will be damaged by weather. Wi-Fi Extended throughout Parking Lot
BPL has installed an exterior Wi-Fi antenna to our building so that our Wi-Fi signal now extends throughout our parking lot and Gazebo area. Residents without home Wi-Fi may now use this resource for remote learning, downloading of eBooks, audiobooks, magazines and more. We have designated the back row of our parking lot as the official Drive-Up Wi-Fi location and is signed as such. Please remember to keep up social distancing rules. Remember that this is a parking lot that is still used by the Village of Bloomingdale and others, so observe all safety precautions as normal. Wi-Fi is availabe 8:30am to 10:00pm every day.
