We're Open!
We will be open to the public the following hours:
Monday, Wednesday, and Friday: 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Tuesday and Thursday: 1:00 - 9:00 p.m.
Saturday: 1:00 - 5:00 p.m.

We will be following guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the state's Restore Illinois plan as we expand our services in the future. Please see www.mybpl.org/covidinfo for future updates.

New Requirements
In order to help protect our patrons and staff, everyone visiting the library must follow these requirements:
  • Wear a face covering or mask covering their nose and mouth at all times.
  • Maintain social distancing of at least six feet apart.
  • Wash your hands and/or use hand sanitizer often.

Library Spaces
When you visit us after July 6, the library will look a little different. Here’s what you can expect:
  • Building capacity of 65 patrons at a time.
  • Each patron will be allowed in the building for up to one hour.
  • Furniture and tables have been removed or spaced out to help maintain social distancing.
  • Signs have been placed on the floor to maintain social distancing at service desks and in aisles/shelving
  • Elevators are limited to one person/family at a time.
  • Toys in the play area are currently unavailable.
  • Select computers will not be available to help maintain social distancing.
  • Meeting rooms and study rooms will not available for public use.

Services we will be offering at this time are limited to the following:
  • Check-outs and holds
  • Copiers and scanners
  • Library card registration
  • Reference and Reader’s Advisory
  • Computer Lab (limited seating) and laptops

Virtual Art Class: Decorative Drop Caps
Tuesday, July 14
6:30 - 8:30 p.m.
Join us on Zoom to learn about the decorative elements  of drop caps (large decorative letters usually found at the start of a book chapter)  and design your own with artist Lindsay Budzynski. Supplies needed:  paper, pencils/erasers, ruler. Tracing paper, markers, or colored pencils optional. Computer, tablet, or phone is required to attend via Zoom, and the Zoom meeting link, along with a document containing alphabet outlines you can choose to print out and use during class,  will be emailed to you the week of the event.  Registration is required and limited to 10 participants, teens are welcome to register.   Click here to register.
Virtual Genealogy Club

Genealogy Club is moving to online meetings via Zoom. Learn about internet and archival genealogy and research support. Computer, tablet, or phone is required to attend via Zoom.

Chef Maddox Presents: Quarantine Cuisine
Weekly on Thursdays through August
We will post a recipe and YouTube link on our calendar and Facebook page . It will be available for you to watch the entire day on Thursday before the video is taken down, so you can watch at a time that is convenient for you. No registration necessary.

Kaleen Dolan will be performing themed piano shows via Facebook Live for our BPL audience! She will be taking your requests on Facebook Live to keep you and your families entertained while you are staying safe at home.

Are you feeling happy, sad, crazy, or just plain poopy? Join us as we celebrate Emoji Day with stories, crafts, games, and tons of fun! Sensory Storytime

for ages 3-8 with caregiver

This program is especially for children with autism, sensory processing, and other special needs. We will engage the senses through music, stories, and motor activities. This event will be taking place virtually with the link on our Facebook and YouTube page.

BPL Building Update
The library building is reopening on Monday, July 6. All in-person library programs and meeting room reservations are canceled through August 31, 2020.

PLEASE remember that, at this time, we are NOT accepting material donations of any kind. Do not leave boxes of books, papers, DVDs/CDs, etc, outside our doors. We are not able to bring these materials indoors, and left outside they are a hazard and will be damaged by weather. Please hold materials until an announcement is made after we reopen that we are once again accepting donations. We thank you for your patience.

Wi-Fi Extended throughout Parking Lot
BPL has installed an exterior Wi-Fi antenna to our building so that our Wi-Fi signal now extends throughout our parking lot and Gazebo area. Residents without home Wi-Fi may now use this resource for remote learning, downloading of eBooks, audiobooks, magazines and more. We have designated the back row of our parking lot as the official Drive-Up Wi-Fi location and is signed as such. Please remember to keep up social distancing rules. Remember that this is a parking lot that is still used by the Village of Bloomingdale and others, so observe all safety precautions as normal. Wi-Fi is availabe 8:30am to 10:00pm every day.
