Prize Pick-up

All Summer Reading Program registrants can stop by the library to pick up your prizes. Prizes for children 6th grade and younger are at the Youth Services Desk downstairs, while prizes for teens and adults are at the Adult Reference Desk on the main level. Prizes will be available through September 5, 2020.
BPL Makerspace
While our building has been closed to the public, we've been hard at work creating a new makerspace in the library.

We're asking for your input on what you’d like to see in YOUR makerspace, including equipment and instruction, as well as what types of hours would suit your needs. A survey can be found at www.mybpl.org/survey, or at www.mybpl.org/makerspace.

We will be open to the public the following hours:
Monday, Wednesday, and Friday: 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Tuesday and Thursday: 1:00 - 9:00 p.m.
Saturday: 1:00 - 5:00 p.m.

New Requirements
In order to help protect our patrons and staff, everyone visiting the library must follow these requirements:
  • Wear a face covering or mask covering their nose and mouth at all times.
  • Maintain social distancing of at least six feet apart.
  • Wash your hands and/or use hand sanitizer often.

Virtual Art Class: Make Your Own Surrealist Drawing
Tuesday, August 11
6:30 - 8:30 p.m.
Join us on Zoom to learn about Surrealism and create your own Surrealist drawing with artist Lindsay Budzynski. Supplies needed: paper, pencils/erasers, ruler. Tracing paper, markers, or colored pencils optional. Computer, tablet, or phone is required to attend via Zoom, and the Zoom meeting link will be emailed to you the week of the event. Registration is required and limited to 10 participants, teens are welcome to register. register here
Chef Maddox Presents: Quarantine Cuisine
Weekly on Thursdays through August
We will post a recipe and YouTube link on our calendar and Facebook page. It will be available for you to watch the entire day on Thursday before the video is taken down, so you can watch at a time that is convenient for you. No registration necessary.

Kaleen Dolan will be performing themed piano shows via Facebook Live for our BPL audience! She will be taking your requests on Facebook Live to keep you and your families entertained while you are staying safe at home.

Take It Make It: Rock Out and Learn About Geology
Friday, August 14 | 10:30-11:05 a.m.
for grades K-6


In this Take and Make Program we will provide you with everything you need to get started with a rock collection. Watch a video to learn a little about the different kinds of rocks and how to perform science experiments to identify rocks. Pick a kit at the Youth Services desk that will have materials to make a rock collection including some sample rocks to hide in the yard to have a real rock collecting experience.

Sign up is required to participate and is limited to 15 children.
Pick up will begin August 10 and you have until August 14 to pick up your materials.

BPL Building Update
The library building is reopening on Monday, July 6. All in-person library programs and meeting room reservations are canceled through August 31, 2020.

PLEASE remember that, at this time, we are NOT accepting material donations of any kind. Do not leave boxes of books, papers, DVDs/CDs, etc, outside our doors. We are not able to bring these materials indoors, and left outside they are a hazard and will be damaged by weather. Please hold materials until an announcement is made after we reopen that we are once again accepting donations. We thank you for your patience.

Wi-Fi Extended throughout Parking Lot
BPL has installed an exterior Wi-Fi antenna to our building so that our Wi-Fi signal now extends throughout our parking lot and Gazebo area. Residents without home Wi-Fi may now use this resource for remote learning, downloading of eBooks, audiobooks, magazines and more. We have designated the back row of our parking lot as the official Drive-Up Wi-Fi location and is signed as such. Please remember to keep up social distancing rules. Remember that this is a parking lot that is still used by the Village of Bloomingdale and others, so observe all safety precautions as normal. Wi-Fi is availabe 8:30am to 10:00pm every day.
