BREAKING: Early Friday morning, the U.S. Senate voted down the so-called "skinny repeal" bill by a vote of 49-51; a proposal that was revealed just 2 hours before the vote and estimated to result in 16 million people losing health care coverage. GOP Senators John McCain, Lisa Murkowski, and Susan Collins joined all 46 Democratic Senators and 2 independents in voting no.

After the vote, Majority Leader Mitch McConnell told the Senate that, "it is time to move on."

For the moment, we can breathe a sigh of relief. This is a huge victory for the American people. Groups representing everyone from doctors, hospitals, seniors, LGBTQ people, and families came out in opposition to this bill - and you made made the difference by making thousands of calls, showing up to town hall meetings, and rallying to hold our representatives' feet to the fire.

There will be plenty more fights ahead of us - as this week has made perfectly clear. The Trump administration will continue to challenge our communities, but I know we are up to the challenge. Thank you for all of your efforts in the #Fight4OurHealth. I am proud to work with all of you.

Sincerely,
Amanda Wallner
