Onward Christian soldiers

IF ALL THE people involved were civilians, there would be nothing especially controversial about a popular website, PLUS, which invites American Christians to “pray at lunchtime for the United States”. But the site’s main author, John Teichert, describes himself as an “active duty brigadier-general who has served in the United States Air Force” since 1994.

For critics like Mikey Weinstein, president of the Military Religious Freedom Foundation (MRFF), which campaigns for church-state separation in the armed forces, this sort of thing epitomises an ever-escalating trend. In the era of Donald Trump, they allege, fundamentalist Christians in uniform have felt freer than ever to test the boundaries set by the constitution and take advantage of their rank when disseminating their own reading of their faith and of American history. The MRFF is not alone in this complaint: last year, at least two other secularist groups formally protested to the Pentagon over the fact that service personnel were being bamboozled into attending religious ceremonies, compromising their own religious freedom.

Activists Add Wiccan, Muslim Texts To Bible Display At NH VA Medical Center; Items Officially Removed

By: NewBostonPost

Friday, May 17, 2019

(Excerpts from NewBostonPost/Emphasis Added by MRFF)
Activists with the Military Religious Freedom Foundation (MRFF) entered the NH Veterans Association Medical Center in Manchester, NH on Thursday and placed copies of the Koran, the Book of Mormon, and Wiccan and atheist texts on a table displaying a Christian Bible that’s kept in a locked glass case , the Union Leader reports.

[…]

The issue for the MRFF , which describes itself as a guardian of religious liberty in the US military and which has also filed a lawsuit in US District Court over the display, is that the public display of the Bible in a federal building violates laws protecting the separation of church and state and amounts to an establishment of religion .

“The Christian Bible clearly doesn’t represent all of the myriad religious faiths and non-faith traditions of the U.S. armed forces veterans using the Medical Center and to presume that it does is quite blatantly unconstitutional, unethical and illicit ,” said Michael “Mikey” Weinstein, founder of MRFF in a statement published widely.

“The Meaning Of Memorial Day”

Saturday, May 25, 2019
Memorial Day is our national holiday for remembering and revering the patriotic men and women who gave their lives in the military service of our country to preserve the freedoms we enjoy today as Americans. According to a past Gallup poll, a majority of Americans do not know the real meaning of Memorial Day.

Memorial Day, formally established by the National Holiday Act of 1971, memorializes those military members who died serving our country. It is always observed on the last Monday of May (May 27th this year) and traditionally begins the summer vacation season. It should not be confused with Veterans Day (November 11th) honoring those living and deceased veterans who served in our military nor Armed Forces Day (3rd Saturday in May) recognizing those serving in our military.

Who judges us when we die? And who will represent us in the high courts of heaven?

Jesus is quoted in the Bible saying “I am the truth the light and the way” and “ no one gets to the father but by me!” Wow is that a bold statement.. but backed by what?

As far as I know, no one ever before or after has resurrected themselves from the dead as Jesus did, that is the focal point. Who would you want as a defending attorney in the spiritual court of Gods laws? Someone that died for your sins and forgives them or ? I know who I’m choosing….

I pray God gives you the wisdom and graces necessary for your salvation. Peace to you.

Mikey Weinstein,

Just wanted you to know I have donated money to First Liberty Institute and others defending this lawsuit. You could better serve the people of the US helping the homeless veterans, children, and families. What a waste of resources. How does it feel to scam America?

Enjoy you memorial day

Dear Mr Weinstein and the MRRF staff,

Thank you very much for your support this morning. Please use this letter as you wish to advocate for continued religious freedom within the military and the United States.

I’ve been a member of the US Air Force for several years, and I wrote MRFF this morning in tears from the stress of dealing with a workplace issue regarding what I considered to be borderline enforcement of Christian religious traditions in the workplace.

Within 20 minutes of sending my email, I received a response from the Director, Mikey Weinstein, providing a phone number and asking me to call him at a certain time. When I did, he promptly responded, asked me several questions about the issue and was ready to offer support of the level that seemed appropriate to the situation.

What I was looking for wasn’t a national-level response or mobilization, but a simple read on the situation from an external and informed perspective. He offered that and also advised me of different ways I might address the issue in the workplace. What’s more, within a few minutes, he emailed me the Air Force Instruction that would support my assertions.

This is not the first time I’ve turned to the MRFF for support, but it’s the first time I’ve contacted them. I’m so pleased and even feel honored by the respectful response I received. Previously, I’ve looked through items on the website, which is also very comprehensive. I would encourage ANYONE who is seeking advice and support about a freedom of religion issue in a military workplace to contact MRFF.

Very Respectfully,
( Please withhold my name from public distribution )
“Jews and Manchester VA POW/MIA Table”

Dear Mr. Weinstein,

My husband family and me live in the general area around Manchester New Hampshire where your antichristian MMFR organization is attacking the Holy Bible at the VA Medical Hospital here.

Our church had its weekly Wednesday evening services last night and everyone was of the same mind about you and your villainy.
We all know that your Jewish and we all agreed that if it had been a jew book on that Pow Mia table you would never have attacked.

So be honest about it because you and your org. just hate anything that is Christian. We may not know you personally but most jews we’ve known also hate anything Christian.

Too bad for you. That Bible will stay. Go find another display to put your jew books on and leave us Christians alone with our Lord at the VA.

P.S. And another thing Mr. Weinstein. If you tally up those soldiers who have died in our wars for Memorial day you will easily see that so many more who follow Christ have perished then those who deny him like you Jews do. And the communists and arabs. You should be deported back to israel and loose your citizenship for good.

Good riddance!
