POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — Hudson Valley Economic Development Corporation (HVEDC) is pleased to announce that Sun River Health has joined the HVEDC Board. The organization will be represented by Jeramie Barber, Chief of Development at Sun River Health and Executive Director of the Sun River Health Foundation.

Founded 50 years ago in Peekskill by four African American women committed to expanding access to affordable, compassionate care, Sun River Health remains deeply rooted in the Hudson Valley.
The organization reaches residents who would otherwise may go without health care — including 1-in-4 patients cared for who lack insurance — and serves tens of thousands of working adults across agriculture, hospitality and tourism, retail, food and beverage, construction, transportation and logistics, manufacturing, and caregiving, as well as families in public or subsidized housing, older adults with chronic conditions, veterans, and people working multiple jobs without employer-sponsored insurance.
Sun River Health’s preventive work reduces ER visits, hospitalizations, and overall health-care system costs. By strengthening the region’s workforce, keeping children learning, helping seniors live independently, and supporting families before crises escalate, they are making the Hudson Valley a better place to live, work, play, and invest in.
