TLC REINTRODUCES RAISE FOR UBER & LYFT DRIVERS!

While we get ready for our Uber and Lyft drivers strike at LaGuardia Airport on Sunday, February 26th (no pick ups 12pm to 12am), the TLC has re-introduced the Uber and Lyft driver raise that Uber sued to block! The TLC hearing will be on March 1st. Build up our Feb 26th LGA Strike to build the pressure!

This is the raise in the per mile rate based on inflation in the cost of operations, such as the cost of the car and gasoline. The new Uber and Lyft rates beginning on February 1st are based only on the inflation in household cost of living, such as milk and bread. Our union fought for the per mile rate to go up last year based on the increase in operating costs! Uber sued to stop our victory, but now the TLC is going to vote on the rules again! We are making progress and we will not back down until we win back our raise!

Attention Medallion Owner-Drivers!

TLC OWNER-DRIVER RESOURCE CENTER

Deadline to register is Jan. 31st!

If you are a medallion owner with six or less medallions, you must register with the TLC Owner-Driver Resource Center by January 31st, 2023 if you want free legal services from the city to help you restructure your loan with lower debt and to apply for the grants.

  • If you already signed up on the TLC website, or had an intake interview, or have an attorney assigned - then you do not have to worry. You are already registered with the program.

  • The city-backed guarantee program and the grants are NOT closing on Jan. 31st. This deadline is just so the TLC knows of all the medallion owners who need this assistance.
Click here to register with the Owner-Driver Resource Center!

Medallion Relief Program (MRP):

The TLC Owner-Driver Resource Center is the name of the department. The MRP is the name of the TLC program that the ODRC helps with. The MRP has two parts:

MRP I (the program that gives $20,000 grants for some cash settlements and other reductions to your loan) and MRP II (the program that provides the city-backed guaranty and $30,000 grants). This deadline is to register with the TLC's ODRC department. The program will continue while we work to get more lenders to restructure the loans!

There are 4 steps in the TLC's program:

1. Sign up / register with the TLC Owner-Driver Resource Center (see above)

2. The TLC will then schedule an "intake" interview with you to review some basic questions with you over the phone.

3. After the intake, the TLC will assign you a free lawyer to help you with your Medallion Relief Program application.

4. After you are assigned a lawyer, the attorney will be responsible for communicating with you and helping you refinance your loan under the MRP.

If you have already signed up for an appointment with the Owner Driver Resource Center or been assigned a free attorney, you do not need to sign up for another appointment!

January 31st is the deadline to sign up for an appointment with the Owner Drive Resource Center. It is NOT the deadline to refinance under the MRP or get grant money from the MRP.

If you are not sure if your lender is participating in the Medallion Relief Program or your free attorney told you they were not, please come to the online zoom meetings we have every Friday night at 8 pm to learn about the union's plan to make sure all medallion owners get the debt relief you need.
