The Gold Coast Multicultural Arts Group acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the land and waters on which we create and work. We pay respects to the Kombumerri people of the Bundjalung, Mibiny, Ngarahngwal, and Yugambeh language groups. We extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today and to their ongoing sovereignty.
We’re proud to share the story of GCMAGIC’s recent involvement in the SWELL Sculpture Festival at Currumbin Beach. GCMAGIC at SWELL Sculpture Festival 2024
We are thrilled to share the highlights of our participation in the SWELL Sculpture Festival, which took place from 6th to 15th September 2024 at the beautiful Currumbin Beach. This iconic event, known for connecting people, art, and place, gathered some of the best artistic talent from across Australia. GCMAGIC proudly showcased our piece, Contemporary Expression of a Modern Society.
Our sculpture, set against the stunning backdrop of the Gold Coast coastline, reflected the contrasts and balance present in today’s world. The geometric shapes and vibrant colours aimed to represent the interplay between individuality and the collective spirit of modern society. It was an honour to see how festival-goers engaged with our work, sparking meaningful conversations about the role of art in contemporary culture.
We also extend our congratulations to SHIFA by Clayton Blake, the winning sculpture of the festival. Being part of such a celebrated event was an unforgettable experience, and we’re proud to have contributed to this important cultural moment.
We look forward to future opportunities to share our art with the world!

The sculpture "Contemporary Expression of a Modern Society" is composed of a series of geometric shapes, mainly spheres and cubes of varying sizes, stacked in balance. The spheres and cubes are painted in vibrant colours creating a bold and dynamic contrast.
These shapes and colours aim to represent the diversity and tensions found in modern society, where individuality and the collective coexist and balance each other. The work invites reflection on how people, with their differences, come together to form a harmonious whole in contemporary society.

Let's Talk About It: Mental Health Month 2024
Join the Conversation: Embrace Wellness Through Art, Yoga, and Meditation This Mental Health Month
October marks Mental Health Month, an annual reminder of the importance of mental health and wellbeing. This year’s theme, "Let’s Talk About It", encourages open conversations about mental health, inviting everyone to reflect on their emotional well-being, whether or not they've experienced mental illness themselves.
Mental health is something we all have, and it's vital to take care of it just like we do our physical health. By normalising the conversation, we can reduce the stigma surrounding mental illness and create a supportive community where it’s okay to ask for help.
To promote wellness, a range of activities is being hosted throughout October, designed to help you reconnect with yourself and others.
