Over the past month, we have witnessed incredible achievements, from successful exhibitions to new initiatives that bring artists together. Your support and dedication make all of this possible, and we couldn’t be prouder of our emerging and established artists.

We would also like to take a moment to congratulate Andrea Castiglione on completing her Professional Placement with GCMAGIC with success. Andrea has been an invaluable part of our team, bringing creativity, dedication, and professionalism to every project. We truly appreciate her contributions and wish her all the best in her upcoming endeavors—there’s no doubt she will continue to achieve great things!

Looking ahead, we have exciting initiatives in the works, including our new monthly Creative Collaboration initiative with experts in the arts and cultural industry. The Robina Art Exhibition was cut short to just four days due to the cyclone. However, despite the setback, we still welcomed plenty of visitors and even managed to sell two artworks!

Our exhibition at Gold Coast University Hospital (GCUH) has been a wonderful opportunity to showcase our artists' work in a meaningful space. We’re thrilled to share that this exhibition has also led to several artwork sales, further reinforcing the impact of art in healing environments. Congratulations to the artists involved!

Three of our talented artists took part in the SWELL Sculpture Festival, where they showcased their incredible work to a broad audience:

Nasrin exhibited her signature ceramic pomegranates, which proved to be a hit, selling exceptionally well.

Mauri and Andrea presented their stained glass mosaic, Musketeer with Sword, which received glowing reviews. Their stunning piece stood out among more than 100 artworks, earning them a well-deserved second place in the People’s Choice Award.

GCMAGIC’s Community Support

GCMAGIC continues to demonstrate its unwavering commitment to promoting cultural diversity, artistic expression, and inclusivity within the community. As an auspicing incorporated community organisation, GCMAGIC is now officially recognised and empowered to support and partner with various cultural and community initiatives. This means we can offer administrative, legal, and financial support to help turn creative visions into reality.

Auspicing Role:

GCMAGIC is now recognised as an Auspice organisation, meaning we can offer crucial support to smaller or emerging community groups and projects that may not yet have the resources, structure, or legal status to apply for funding or manage their initiatives. By taking on the responsibility of managing funds, ensuring legal compliance, and providing the necessary infrastructure, GCMAGIC acts as a facilitator for community events, projects, and festivals, making sure they meet all requirements for funding and community engagement.

Inclusive and Diverse Programming:

Our community support initiatives are always designed to be inclusive, encouraging engagement from people of all backgrounds. By supporting the Persian Nowruz Festival, GCMAGIC demonstrates its commitment to showcasing cultural diversity and creating a sense of belonging across all communities in the Gold Coast. Beyond financial backing, GCMAGIC is actively involved in organising, promoting, and bringing people together to enjoy the festival.

Building Stronger Connections:

Through our community support work, GCMAGIC plays a key role in building stronger relationships between cultural groups, local residents, artists, and community leaders. By backing events like the Persian Nowruz Festival, we help build connections that transcend cultural boundaries, nurturing unity and a collective spirit of celebration.

Opportunities for Volunteering and Community Engagement:

GCMAGIC’s community initiatives also offer opportunities for local volunteers to get involved in event planning, organisational roles, and participation in the festival. This hands-on involvement provides individuals with the chance to build new skills, gain confidence, and feel a sense of pride in contributing to the success of this important cultural event.

In response to requests from our artist members, we're excited to launch monthly artist talks, starting this April. These sessions will offer a valuable platform for artists to share their experiences, voice their needs, and discuss creative ideas in an open and supportive environment. We want to create a space for meaningful conversations that can inspire and connect us all.

We encourage all members to join this first gathering and help shape the direction of these discussions. Have a topic you’re passionate about or an issue you’d like to explore? We’d love to hear from you! Send us your suggestions, and we'll include them in future talks to make sure the conversations are relevant and engaging for everyone.
