Staten Island is one step closer to developing a new Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system along the North Shore of Staten Island! The MTA voted to approve the $4.8 million 24 month contract for preliminary engineering and environmental work for the North Shore Bus Rapid Transit. Read the Staten Island Advance and amNewYork articles below.

SI Chamber President & CEO, Linda Baran is quoted in amNewYork about the new BRT movement on Staten Island. “It was always critical for us to get cars off the road, and I think that it’s important now more than ever,” said president and CEO of the Staten Island Chamber of Commerce Linda Baran, who has advocated for the project for more than a decade. “It’s a way to help residents of low-to-moderate income that don’t have means to get to work, and to link to the West Shore and the corporate park, which are exploding [with jobs] right now. There’s a ton of traffic.”
