This newsletter reflects the strength of that mission in action. From our member dinners and community events, to programs that bring comfort and connection to the families of fallen heroes, every effort highlights what we can achieve together. Your ongoing support continues to fuel our ability to give back and serve.

Looking ahead, we’re excited to announce the upcoming launch of the new K-9 & Friends facility. This new initiative is dedicated to provide support for retired K-9s and mounted horses, who have faithfully served alongside our officers and we aim to make sure they receive the same compassion and care they’ve helped provide to others.

Thank you for your commitment, generosity, and belief in our mission. Together, we’re not only protecting those who protect us, but ensuring their families, and even their four-legged partners, are supported every step of the way.

Andy Mitchell

Chairman of the Board

Broward Sheriff’s Advisory Council

We’re proud to welcome our newest Members and Chairman’s Council Partners to the Broward Sheriff’s Advisory Council family. Their leadership and generosity directly support our mission to provide critical resources, training, and care for first responders and their families. Together, we make Broward County stronger and safer.

Families of fallen heroes came together for a joyful day at Zoo Miami, filled with laughter, connection, and new memories. Hosted by the Broward Sheriff’s Advisory Council and sponsored by the Stahl Family and Dx-Web, this special event celebrates the ongoing bond within our BSAC family, reminding us that our commitment to these families extends far beyond the line of duty.

BSAC members and guests gathered at Founders Shooting Club, proudly sponsored by Director Victor Grillo for a memorable Summer Social, combining friendly competition and community impact. Guests enjoyed an evening of target practice, networking, and great food, all in support of BSAC’s mission to provide vital resources and programs for Broward’s first responders and their families.

BSAC members came together at The Tower Club for our annual Fall Member Dinner, an evening of connection, gratitude, and shared purpose. Guests enjoyed a three-course meal, meaningful conversation, and remarks from Colonel Andrew Dunbar, celebrating the strong partnerships that continue to strengthen and support Broward’s first responders.

BSAC was honored to sponsor and support the Broward County Chiefs of Police Association Breakfast, uniting law enforcement leaders and command staff from across Broward County. The event, hosted by BCCPA President Chief Kinsley of Davie PD, provided an opportunity to strengthen collaboration, share insights, and honor the dedication of those who serve and protect our communities every day.

BSAC members gathered at the BSO Aviation Hangar for this year’s Member Appreciation Breakfast, celebrating 40 years of BSAC’s impact. Guests enjoyed breakfast with the BSO Command Staff, met the Aviation, SWAT, Bomb, K-9, Marine, Fire, and Motor Units, and explored BSO assets up close. It was a morning of gratitude, connection, and pride in the mission that unites us all, protecting those who protect us.

On Tuesday, November 4th, the Commissioners of the City of Fort Lauderdale officially proclaimed the day as Broward Sheriff’s Advisory Council Day, honoring our ongoing commitment to the community and our mission to protect those who protect us.

Surrounded by members, partners, and representatives from our law enforcement and fire agencies, BSAC was recognized for 40 years of service, leadership, and support for those who safeguard our county. We are deeply grateful for the dedication and compassion that continue to fuel our mission and for the unwavering support of everyone who helps keep this work alive. What an incredible milestone for BSAC!

On Saturday, November 22nd, we joined BSO at the Public Safety Building and provided over 500 families with a turkey and all the traditional holiday fixings. Families were hand-selected by School Resource Officers to ensure the meals reached those most in need.

Thank you to everyone who donated, packed, distributed, and made this day possible. Your kindness allowed these families to enjoy a special Thanksgiving meal together.
