The $137 million York Street Pump Station and Connecticut River Crossing project is the cornerstone of the Springfield Water and Sewer Commission’s IWP, including a new 62 MGD combined sewer pump station, three new conveyance pipelines, and additional receiving structures at the SRWTF. As a result of the project’s success, the overall health of the river and the surrounding communities has improved drastically and will continue to improve for years to come, reducing annual CSO discharges by over 100 million gallons during a typical year. ... Governor Healey’s request for $400 million over two years in funding for Chapter 90 funding was the subject of a January 30 hearing of the Joint Committee on Transportation. This is on par with the $200 million base annual funding for Chapter 90 that has been provided since 2012.
