WELCOME BACK!

What a fantastic start to the school year!

If you love seeing all of your friends' kids in their cute back-to-school photos, then check out our first day of school photo galleries.

Our students and teachers looked great, and we bet you'll see someone you know as you scroll through!

It is great to see everyone again! Have a wonderful school year!

THANK YOU BSD2 BUS DRIVERS!

We couldn't do it without you!

We are so grateful for our incredible crew of bus drivers here in District 2.

Currently, there's a nationwide shortage of school bus drivers. In fact, we're missing four drivers to start the year, but that hasn't stopped the District 2 Transportation Team from safely busing our students to and from school.

Thank you, BSD2 Bus Drivers! We couldn't do it without you!

JOIN THE TEAM

Interested in becoming a BSD2 Bus Driver?

Pay starts at $27 per hour with a $2,000 sign-on bonus. The position includes sick days and contributions toward an IMRF pension. District 2 also provides paid training for the required commercial driver’s license and longevity bonuses for years of service.

REMINDER

Tuesdays are early release days

Don't forget - schools dismiss early each Tuesday!

  • Students in Grades 6-8 are dismissed at 2 p.m.
  • Students in Grades K-5 are dismissed at 2:25 p.m.
  • Hours for Pre-Kindergarten classes are not impacted by the Tuesday early dismissal schedule.

The District's early dismissal schedule on Tuesday provides time for staff planning and professional development.

STUDENT HANDBOOKS

Parents, please review this information with your children

Illinois law requires that parents or guardians be notified annually of certain policies, procedures, and practices of the school district. Many of the policies are referenced in the student handbook. All policies are posted on the District’s website at www.bsd2.org, and are available for review in every school and at the BSD2 Educational Administration Center, 210 S. Church Road, Bensenville.

A committee of parents, teachers, and administrators developed the handbook; each year, the booklet is reviewed and, if necessary, revised.

Your child will be held accountable for the behavior and consequences outlined in the handbook, both during the regular school day and at extracurricular activities. So please read and review the handbook with your child.

PARENT UNIVERSITY

Tonight's workshop focuses on building effective school year routines

District 2 will host a Parent University worksop at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, August 22, at W.A. Johnson School, 252 Ridgewood Avenue in Bensenville.

The objective for this educational event is to equip parents with practical strategies and tools to establish and maintain effective routines for their children during the school year.

By providing a structured framework, parents will learn how to create an environment that promotes academic success, emotional well-being, and healthy habits.

DO YOU CARE?

District 2's CARE Volunteer Program hosting Welcome Day on August 30

Give just one hour of your time each week as a CARE volunteer, and you can make a big difference in the lives of District 2 students!

CARE - Cultivating Academic Readiness and Excellence - is a program in which members of the District 2 community volunteer to help students refine skills they’re being taught by their classroom teachers. As a CARE volunteer, you will work with K-8 students in reading, math, science, or other subjects.

To become a CARE volunteer, join us on Wednesday, August 30, at 10 a.m. for a brief training session at the BSD2 Educational Administration Center located at 210 S. Church Road in Bensenville.

The CARE volunteer program kicks off on Monday, September 11.

To volunteer with CARE, or for more information, please contact Lara Schwarz, CARE Coordinator and Community Liaison, at 630-766-2605, ext. 3202 or lschwarz@bsd2.org.

FREE DEVELOPMENTAL SCREENING

Nobody knows your child better than you!

Bensenville School District 2 will conduct free developmental screenings for children ages 3-5 on Wednesday and Thursday, September 13 and 14.

These screenings are the first step in identifying children for our Preschool for All program and/or Head Start.

Professionals will assess the development of your child’s gross and fine motor skills, pre-academic readiness, and speech, language, vision and hearing.

Call the Tioga School office at 630-766-2602 ext. 4200 to schedule an appointment for your child’s screening.

BSD2 E-FLYERS

Here are the current community flyers posted on the District's website

District 2 has gone "green" in its approach to distributing community flyers.

Rather than sending flyers home with each student via backpack mail, District and community flyers are posted on the BSD2 E-Flyers page for parents to view or print 24/7.

It is estimated that this saves our schools hundreds of hours per year spent sorting and handling the materials, not to mention the number of trees and other resources saved in producing them.
