Dress Code and Cell Phone Policy Updates
As we prepare for the new school year, we'd like to share two important updates that will help create a safe, respectful, and focused learning environment for all students.
Cell Phone Policy
This school year, Bensenville School District 2 will implement updates to our cell phone procedures in accordance with recently signed Illinois legislation. While the new law does not significantly change our current practices, we want families to be aware of a few important updates for the 2026–2027 school year.
Students are expected to keep cell phones and other personal communication devices, including cellular-enabled watches and smartwatches, turned off and put away during the school day. In addition, middle school students will no longer be permitted to use their cell phones during lunch.
These expectations are designed to minimize distractions, promote student engagement, and support meaningful learning throughout the school day. We also recognize the importance of students and families being able to communicate when necessary. Students will always be able to contact their parents or guardians through the school office when needed. In the event of a school emergency, students will be permitted to use their cell phones as appropriate.
School principals will review and reinforce these expectations with students and families during back-to-school events and at the beginning of the school year. We appreciate our families’ partnership in helping students understand and follow these expectations so that our schools can remain focused on learning and student engagement.

Student Dress Code
Our dress code is intended to promote safety, respect, and an inclusive learning environment where every student feels comfortable, valued, and ready to learn. If a student's clothing does not meet the district's dress code expectations, we will work with them respectfully by providing one of the following options:
- Change into their own appropriate clothing
- Change into school-provided clothing
- Have a parent or guardian bring replacement clothing
Our goal is always to partner with families and address these situations in a supportive, respectful manner while maintaining a positive learning environment for all students.
