Welcome Back to School, BSD2!
On Wednesday, August 20, students at Tioga Elementary, W.A. Johnson Elementary, and Blackhawk Middle School returned to classrooms for the start of the 2025–26 school year in Bensenville School District 2.
Today, Monday, August 25, our Pre‑K students began their first day of school, marking the official start of the Preschool program.
Students were greeted by familiar faces, and staff met them with encouraging words. The school hallways buzzed with anticipation, marking a genuine and confident beginning to the year.
This year’s theme “ALL IN” captures the district’s goal clearly: students, families, and staff all supporting each other to make this school year meaningful and productive!

Stay Informed: Check Out Our Updated Student Handbook!
As the new school year begins, staying informed and prepared is more important than ever. The 2025–2026 BSD2 Student Handbook has been thoughtfully updated and is now available online. This all-in-one resource clearly outlines district policies and procedures for families and students.
All policies are accessible on the district’s website, and physical copies are available for review at each school and at the BSD2 Educational Administration Center, 210 S. Church Road, Bensenville.
A dedicated committee of parents, teachers, and administrators reviews and updates the handbook every year to ensure its accuracy and relevance.
Please read the handbook thoroughly with your child. It explains the expected student behavior and consequences not only during the school day but also at extracurricular events.

Important Changes to BSD2 Communications: What to Know
Effective August 15, District 2 stopped using Facebook for official communications because recent changes to Facebook’s policies no longer provide the level of privacy and security our community requires. Instead, all official information will be shared on our secure, reliable channels: our website (www.bsd2.org), school webpages, and our bi‑monthly e‑newsletter—while updates, photo galleries, and reminders will appear on our Instagram (@bensenvilleschooldistrict2) and X/Twitter feeds (@BensenvilleD2 and @KMcCluskey4). Please sign up for the newsletter and bookmark our website, and if you need help accessing any of these platforms, contact our Community Relations Coordinator, Tania Gomez, at 630‑766‑5940 ext. 1122 or tgomez@bsd2.org. Thank you for your support as we prioritize clear, accurate, and secure communication!

FREE Developmental Screenings for Ages 3–5
Do you have a child between the ages of 3 and 5? Ensure they're ready for kindergarten by signing up for a free developmental screening! Your child must be 3 years old by the screening date, and an appointment is required. Screenings take about one hour.
What’s Included:
Professionals will assess:
- Large & fine motor skills
- Pre-academic readiness
- Speech, language, vision & hearing
These screenings help:
- Identify eligibility for District’s free preschool program
- Detect needs for additional support before kindergarten
Children already attending the District’s preschool have already been screened.
Screenings provide a snapshot of a child’s development—covering motor, cognitive, and language skills—to ensure they’re meeting typical milestones
Why It Matters:
- About 1 in 7 children experience developmental delays, and only 20–30% are identified before school entry.
- Early screening allows early intervention, leading to improved school performance, social skills, and lifelong success.
2025–2026 Screening Calendar:
- September 18
- October 22
- December 5
- February 19
- May 29
Ready to Schedule?
Call Tioga School at 630‑766‑2602 ext. 4175 to make an appointment.
Together, we can help every child grow, thrive, and start school off strong!
