TIME FOR A NEW LOOK

Help District 2 design its new "Learning & Growing Together" logo

District 2 has a new motto: Learning & Growing Together.

That motto is just one part of the District's new, five-year strategic plan. The District also updated its mission and vision statements, beliefs, and strategic priorities.

Now it needs to develop a new logo to symbolize those ideals.

And it's looking for your help!

Please take our online poll and rank your favorite designs from among the options under consideration.

We'll share the results later this fall, and adopt a new logo later this school year!

STUDENT HANDBOOKS

Parents, please review this information with your children

Illinois law requires that parents or guardians be notified annually of certain policies, procedures, and practices of the school district. Many of the policies are referenced in the student handbook. All policies are posted on the District’s website at www.bsd2.org, and are available for review in every school and at the Educational Administration Center, 210 S. Church Road, Bensenville.

A committee of parents, teachers, and administrators developed the handbook; each year, the booklet is reviewed and, if necessary, revised.

Your child will be held accountable for the behavior and consequences outlined in the handbook, both during the regular school day and at extracurricular activities. So please read and review the handbook with your child.

NOTE: The Spanish version of this handbook has been generated by Google Translate. A full, professionally translated version of the handbook will be posted and distributed to our Spanish-speaking families by Friday, September 9.

STUDENT MEALS

Set up payments or apply for free or reduced-price program

All students were eligible last year for free meals under a federal COVID response program.

This year, free or reduced-price meals will be available ONLY to qualifying students, the same as before COVID.

This means the District will begin charging again for meals on the first day of the school year. Full-price student breakfasts will cost $1.75, and lunches will cost $3.30. (Reduced-price meals will cost 30 cents and 40 cents, respectively.)

Parents will receive letters explaining who is eligible for free and reduced-price meals. Families that qualified prior to COVID will have 30 days to submit applications for the program. Those who did not qualify prior to COVID will be asked to pay until their application is reviewed and approved.

However, no student will go without a meal due to an inability to pay.

FREE DEVELOPMENTAL SCREENING

Nobody knows your child better than you

Bensenville School District 2 will conduct free developmental screenings for children ages 3-5 on Wednesday and Thursday, September 14 and 15.

These screenings are the first step in identifying children for our Preschool for All program and/or Head Start.

Call the Tioga School office at 630-766-2602 ext. 4200 to schedule an appointment for your child’s screening.

To become a mentor, join us on Wednesday, August 31, at 10 a.m. for a brief training session at the Educational Administration Center located at 210 S. Church Road in Bensenville.

Project CARE kicks off on Monday, September 12.

BSD2 E-FLYERS

Here are the current community flyers posted on the District's website.

District 2 has gone "green" in its approach to distributing community flyers.

Rather than sending flyers home with each student via backpack mail, District and community flyers are posted on the BSD2 E-Flyers page for parents to view or print 24/7.

It is estimated that this saves our schools hundreds of hours per year spent sorting and handling the materials, not to mention the number of trees and other resources saved in producing them.
