BSD2 Celebrated 100 Days of School on February 4th!

Our BSD2 students recently celebrated a big milestone—the 100th day of school—and what a fun day it was! Classrooms were filled with activities centered around the number 100, giving students a creative way to practice math, reading, and problem-solving skills.

One of the highlights of the day was seeing students dressed up as if they were 100 years old. From gray hair and glasses to canes and suspenders, the outfits brought lots of smiles and laughter throughout the school.

The 100th day of school is a great opportunity to reflect on how much students have learned and grown so far this year. We’re proud of their hard work and dedication to being All IN every day, and we loved celebrating this special milestone together!

Tioga has Heart!

In celebration of Valentine’s Day, Tioga School created a special mural that brought the entire school community together. A large display filled with paper hearts invited both students and staff to share something they love about Tioga by completing the prompt: “Things I Love About Tioga.”

Heart after heart now decorates the mural, each one featuring kind words, appreciation, and pride for the school community. As students and staff walk past, they can read the many thoughtful messages highlighting favorite teachers, supportive friendships, fun activities, a safe learning environment, and the strong sense of belonging that makes Tioga special.

The mural serves as a beautiful reminder of the positive culture at Tioga School. It’s more than just a Valentine’s Day decoration; it’s a celebration of community, kindness, and the many reasons students and staff are proud to call Tioga their school.

District 2 Summer School & Enrichment Programs Now Announced

Traditional Summer School Program

District 2 will once again offer a free traditional summer school program. This program will provide select students focused support in furthering their progress in reading and math. This support will assist students in being more prepared for their upcoming grade levels.

In addition to reading and math instruction, the traditional summer school program will also feature a period of enrichment for students built into the program to enjoy each day.

This year, summer school is from Monday, July 6th through Thursday, July 23, at Wesley A Johnson School. Classes will meet from 8-11:30 a.m. Monday through Thursday.

Families of students who have been identified to receive the summer school program will be notified during parent-teacher conferences on Friday, February 20. The deadline to register for summer school is Wednesday, March 18.

Summer Enrichment Program

The District will also offer a slate of free enrichment activities that is open to all students who aren’t identified for traditional summer school. This enrichment program will allow students in grade-level groupings to participate in rotations of fun, engaging summer enrichment activities each day.

The summer enrichment program coincides with traditional summer school, running from 8-11:30 a.m. Monday through Thursday at Wesley A Johnson School beginning July 6 and ending July 23rd.

Registration for summer enrichment will open Monday, March 2, and will be conducted on a first-come-first-served basis. The deadline to register online is Wednesday, March 18.

Childcare

Right at School, which operates the after-school programming for our elementary schools, will also offer a parent-paid childcare option throughout the summer. Right at School programming will be held Monday through Friday at Wesley A. Johnson School beginning June 8th. Full and half day options will be available for families. More information is forthcoming.
