Dear Residents, Staff and Families,
First off, I wanted to let everyone know that we are on high alert with the alarming increase in Kitsap County Covid rates. Please be extra vigilant with mask wearing and hand washing. If you have any suspicion that you are off or unwell, please get tested before visiting any of our communities. We have rapid testing available for all our staff and residents.
Yesterday we performed a second round of testing at Madison House for all residents and staff due to the exposure and positive Covid case that was identified on August 8th. The resident tests have been returned and are all negative and almost all of the staff tests have been returned – all negative at this point. Consider no news good news on that front!
Bainbridge Senior Living staff are currently 86% fully vaccinated and the Governor’s mandate will require 100% of staff to be vaccinated by October 18th (with a few exceptions for legitimate medical/religious accommodations). While our vaccination rates are high for the “industry standard” we have been striving for 100% all along to minimize risk to our community. For any staff that are not fully vaccinated, our nursing team makes sure that they are rapid tested weekly.
Yesterday afternoon, during one of these routine tests at Madrona House, we found a staff member who was positive for Covid. This staff member was tested the week prior and was negative. Residents on the 3rd and 4th floors were potentially exposed and are being monitored for any signs or symptoms of Covid.
While the risk to our Madrona community is low due to our high vaccination rates and PPE protocol, we will be testing all residents and staff this coming Thursday. We will get those results out as soon as we have them, likely on Friday morning. We will repeat testing per DOH recomendations at Madrona House again next Monday, August 23rd.
On another note...
We are in communication with Bainbridge Prepares regarding a potential booster shot clinic. We are hopeful that we can host on-site clinics as soon as the FDA approves booster shots for community living situations such as ours. This could happen in the next two-three weeks. Be on the lookout for additional information.
Visitation rules remain the same at this time at all of our communities. Maintain safety by wearing your mask at all times and reach out if you have questions.
With Gratitude,
