Dear Parents,

Congratulations to us!!!

As everyone now knows, we were awarded the National Blue Ribbon for Exemplary High Performing Schools for 2019. This is the second time that we have received this honor; we also received it in 2012. Since its inception in 1982, about 9,000 schools have received this distinction. The total number of schools that could receive it in the United States is about 130,000. In those 37 years, less than 9% of the possible schools have received this honor. Yesterday we moved into even the more rarified air of getting it more than once. This just certifies what we already know...we have a great school!

Thank you to all the teachers and staff who put in the work every day to create this successful environment for the students. Thank you to all the students who take advantage of the opportunities that we provide to make the most of every day. Thank you to all of the parents who bless us with the gift of those children every day. And, thank you to all of the Holy Cross sisters who made this school the place it is today. Their unseen presence still filters through our hallways and guides all that we do. It takes a village to raise a child and it takes a spectacular school community, working together, to make this achievement possible.

Faithfully,
Chris Kelly

Monday, October 7, 2:45-3:30pm

Wednesday, October 23, 7:45-8:30am

Here are some "dos and don'ts" to make this a non-spooky experience for everyone:

DO:
  • Go through your child's closet to see what BSS items have been outgrown.
  • Check and recheck all items for stains, holes, broken zippers, and/or pet fur.
  • Launder all items before bringing them to school. If you can't remember if you did already-please do so again!
  • Come to a scheduled UE and find great deals on nearly all components of the BSS uniform, including PE attire. (Belts, socks, and sneakers are not offered.)
  • Contact Jara, Laura, or Tania with any questions: jbarrows23@yahoo.com; llgrimm2003@gmail.com; gembalat@yahoo.com.

DON'T:
  • Leave items in the school office.
  • Use bags from a grocery store or carry-out place to store or transport your clothing items. Doing so attracts bugs.
  • Bring in any clothing with stains, holes, broken zippers, and/or pet fur.
  • Donate items that are not part of the BSS uniform.
  • Forget to put the UE dates on your calendar!
