The second quarter ended last week and the report cards are being finalized over the weekend. Nothing will be sent home this quarter but all report cards will be posted in your child's e-locker on Rediker by Monday afternoon. Please take the opportunity after Monday to check the e-locker and review the report card.
Attached to the Weekly you will find a
letter from the archdiocese about the ALICE program.
This is the new school safety program that we are implementing that I wrote about earlier this year. Careful observers will note that the letter is dated December 2018. I believed that I had attached this to the November 30th Weekly but when we were doing faculty training last Friday afternoon, teachers mentioned that they did not remember seeing it. I checked and, although I had downloaded it into my parent communications file, I had neglected to attach it to the Weekly (mea culpa).
The letter will give an overview of the program. In the month of February, we will begin the process of sharing the ALICE program with the parents and students. On February 12 at 7:00, in the school auditorium, we will hold an information session for parents. By the end of February, we will be having age appropriate discussions, grade by grade, with all of the students. As we roll the program out further, we will continue to update parents about the steps that we are taking.
Reminder: Catholic Schools Week is next week. A schedule of events is included with the Weekly, including our special event, I Am Potential, Monday at school and Monday evening in the gym.

Mark your calendar, tell Alexa to remind you, do whatever it takes because our school has officially kicked-off our first ever Kids Heart Challenge with the American Heart Association! Last year, we jumped rope for heart, and you better believe we're going to continue JUMPING ROPE to help those with special hearts! But this year, we have even more fun activities and ways to learn about heart health and how to save lives.
The kids have learned about the Heart Heroes, how the heart works, how exercise can be fun and how raising money can save lives. Thank you in advance for your participation in this great event!

A Message From Your
Home & School Association
Catholic Schools Week is next week! This is a fun week celebrating the awesomeness of our local Catholic schools. Please join us the morning of January 29th for a Parent Appreciation reception and Benefit Kick Off at 8:30am in the school Auditorium. The teachers will be showing their gratitude by making all the treats that will be served, so please stop by!
Also, on Thursday the HSA shows its appreciation for our amazing teachers by throwing them a breakfast catered by The Omelette Guys! The faculty and staff look forward to this delicious treat every year and it's because of your dedicated fundraising efforts that HSA is able to host this event, so thank-you!
A very special thank-you to our hospitality committee who take care of this special breakfast. Our hospitality committee works hard all year to tend to all our hospitality needs. The committee includes Joyce Sozio, Maryann Luongo, Alana Choquette, Liz Finnegan, Meg Knight, Mary Santiviago, Gretchen Bukowski, and Monica Kumar. These women are dedicated and dependable! They plan and prepare our Back to School Nights, Open Houses, Teacher Appreciation Breakfast, Grandparents' Day, and Kindergarten graduation reception, and much, much more. They work behind the scenes and often go unnoticed. If you see any of these women, please, thank them for all the do for BSS.
Have a great weekend!
