Dear Parents,

New Year...Old Reminders

Welcome back everyone. It's a new year and time to register for next year. Today, everyone should have received a re-enrollment email from TADS for registration for next year. If you did NOT receive one, please contact Allison Cogswell at

As we enter a new calendar year and approach the end of the second quarter of the school year, I wanted to take the opportunity to send out some reminders, particularly about drop off and pick up AND weather related closings.

There are fewer instances of U-turns on Chevy Chase Parkway in the morning but it still occurs...please don't. The mornings that I am out there, I have timed the backups to get to the circle. Even when it is backed up to the drop off area, I have never timed more than a minute for a car to get to the circle. Please have that patience. On the other side of the building in the afternoon PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE do not impede traffic. I know that it is hard to time it perfectly but we frequently have up to 20 cars waiting on Western (in both directions) to turn into the lot. We do not open the barricades until 3:00. If you are early, please drive around the block, or pull over to the curb lane and wait. When cars sit in the left lane on westbound Western (toward the circle), it is a recipe for congestion and we get calls from the neighbors. Also, please recognize that blacktop drop off and pick up is ONE WAY. The only way to enter the blacktop is through the apartment building lot and the only way to exit is the alley to Quesada.
Regarding weather-related delayed openings or closings- we follow Montgomery County. We are required by the archdiocese to choose a jurisdiction and abide by their decisions. We do not have the authority to make a different decision. We do NOT post anything on our website or send out separate notifications from what is announced through the news outlets (internet, radio, TV and Montgomery County alerts). We have sent out this link already this year but if you haven't done it yet, click here to sign up for Montgomery County alerts. This link can also be found under Quicklinks at the top of the homepage.

Please remember, information about school polices regarding things like weather-related closings are found in the Parent Handbook. This is accessible from the main page of the school web site under, 'About'.

Note bene- In the rare (I can't remember it happening in 25 years) event that there is a NON weather-related emergency (i.e. a bomb threat). We MUST follow DC mandates. In that instance, we will notify parents to provide information and clarity.

Re-enrollment is a place holder for your child for next school year. We have several grades that are full or close to full this year, and have multiple applicants for next year. New students will be accepted based on the re-enrollment numbers, so it is vital that we have accurate information from you about your intentions for next year.
