Dear Parents,

How 'bout dem Nats!!!!

Reading is FUNdamental (only people of a certain age will get that reference) but it still rings true. In our times of increased use of devices to consume the written word, I still love to hold a book and read real print. The past two days, we have celebrated the gift of reading at our annual Book Fair. Thank you to all of our volunteers, especially Emily Coccaro, Michelle Connolly, and Eleanor Hopkins for helping to bring this to the children. The gift of reading is something that every teacher treasures and this is a great opportunity to ignite some passion for reading with our students. The arctic theme was also prescient given the change in the weather.

End of the first quarter is coming up; next Friday is the last day. Report card conferences will be November 8 and 11. Look for information next week about signing up for conferences.

Faithfully,
Chris Kelly

Please join us for the Annual Halloween Parade! The parade lasts about 15-20mins. Students in grades K-5 may bring their costumes to school and change before the parade. Middle school students attend, but do not participate in the parade. K-5 classes will have a small Halloween celebration in the classroom before or after the parade (check emails from room parents for details).

Students may accessorize their uniforms with Halloween flare (socks, tights, hats, headbands, necklaces, etc.)
It is not a dress down day!

Gabriel Project/Network "Baby Bottle" Campaign

It was a "treat" to meet Rosa and Talia on Tuesday and to hear about their success through the help of the Gabriel Project. They brought to reality how our fundraising efforts support pregnant
moms in need.

The time is quickly passing and this fundraiser ends next Thursday, October 24th. Hopefully meeting Rosa and Talia, and learning of the anticipated opening of a new maternity home in Gaithersburg will spur filling those bottles!

The 6th grade thanks you in advance for CARING about these courageous moms and their children.

collect 500 pairs of new or gently used shoes!

The drive will span from Thursday, 10/17 to Thursday, 10/31. Collection boxes can be found in the BSS lobby and auditorium.
ALL sizes and types of shoes are acceptable. Unsure if a pair is 'gently worn'? Donate them and we will figure it out!

Clean out your closet and help those in need. Don't have shoes to donate? Head
