Dear Parents,

'For it is in giving that we receive'

St. Francis' words, not mine, but I have never felt them quite as strongly as I have this week. As a faculty, we collected a significant amount of money to help another faculty, (whose school had frozen spending during December) to have a little something at Christmas and a Christmas luncheon. This could not have occurred without our donations and the donations of a couple of other schools. As a school (with the help of our faculty bakers) and the generosity of our parents with a $2 dress down day, today I was able to deliver a cashier's check for $1,500 to St. Bart's to help them make their financial commitments. And then today, I had the opportunity to help deliver our Christmas 'gifts' to the faculty today because of the incredible generosity (once again) of our parents through Home and School Teacher Christmas Fund collection.

Even this ol' Grinch felt his heart grow three sizes this week.

Thank you to everyone who made all of those gifts to all of those people possible.

Merry Christmas!

Chris Kelly

Wine Cellar 2020 - Be Sure to Visit Circle Wine & Spirits in December!
As many of you know, Circle Wine & Spirits has unfortunately not been able to renew its lease and will be closing on December 31.  Circle has been a great long-time partner for the BSS Wine Cellar (and neighborhood institution) and it will be sad to see them close. Circle will be donating to the BSS auction the value of the BSS store credit created by parent purchases up until closing.   So please go visit Circle and make your purchases for the holiday season.   Be sure to mention BSS at the register and also say goodbye and thanks to their team. Your purchase this month will help Circle and it will help BSS!   We won't be collecting wine bottles at Circle at this time, but will provide in the New Year more information on wine bottle collection and other updates.
You can drop off bottles anytime at 3803 Thornapple Street, Chevy Chase MD 20815 if you wish.  Please contact Charles Fendig, , (703) 298-5719 if you have questions.
We have collected $406.40 for BSS using the BoxTops app. Thank you for scanning those receipts! We are close to our goal of $500 by the end of the second quarter! If we can scan and collect $94  by January 17, 2020
the whole school gets a Dress Down Day.
If you haven't already, please download the BoxTops app here and start scanning so we can reach our mid-year goal of $500 .
After break, on January 14, we will also be collecting the second quarter round of BoxTops clippings. Please continue to collect, cut and send in those paper BoxTops with your students to help their class win the school competition!
