Dear Parents,
Conferences completed...check.
Second quarter underway...check.
Joyful chaos of the holidays underway....check.
And to whomsoever much is given, of him shall much be required: and to whom they commit much, of him will they ask the more. Luke 12:48.
Today we gathered all of the food donated by our school families and sent it over to the Spanish Catholic Center for distribution at Thanksgiving, as we have for the past decade or so. While that was going on, we have other volunteers organizing the thousands of paper bags to be distributed the week after Thanksgiving for the Greg Gannon Canned Food Drive. In addition, we are collecting items for the sixth graders to stuff stockings with toiletries to donate to homeless shelters. And this is just the beginning!
Yes, there are a lot of 'asks' this time of year, donating your time, donating your treasure, donating a coat, donating a gift for the Giving Tree, donating canned can all seem overwhelming. Please know that we understand the requests that we make of our families but we also know what our families are capable of. Many of us are truly blessed with abundance and all of us should be mindful of what we can do for others during this holiday season. Please give generously...and JOYOUSLY...through the season.
"For it is in giving that we receive." -Saint Francis We do not ask anyone to give beyond their capacity, but we know the capacity of our school community...and it is tremendous. Please consider donating as much as you can during this special time...and PLEASE help us to collect more cans on November 30 than Holy Redeemer!!!
FYI...We will no longer be using School Messenger as our mass communication system. As of December 1, 2018, School Messenger will be suspended and we will begin using Rediker's communication feature called AP Notify. AdminPlus Notify gives us the ability to quickly and easily notify all student-connected contacts within our school community via email, text, and voice message. We will primarily use this in the event of an emergency (i.e. a burst pipe causing the closing of school). We will not use it for typical weather related delays or closings.
