Dear Parents,

How can I help?

It takes a village to raise a child and it takes a community to strengthen a school. Now that we are well underway and our schedules (work/home/school) have adjusted, it is a good time to reconsider how you could be a more supportive part of the school community. Fortunately, we offer a myriad of ways.

We are always looking for assistance during lunch and recess, particularly for our 4th and 5th grade classes. If you can spare 40 minutes of your lunch break two days a month  (that's all it takes to sign up for 1 day of lunch duty), please consider signing up.

Hoops fan? Basketball season is just around the corner.  We can always find a place for people who are willing to volunteer to coach. If you are interested, please contact Marilyn Campbell at

What about tonight? It's not too late to join us for Mother Son Jammin' Fun. It's a joyful, easy way to spend time with your son and support the HSA.  Tickets will be sold at the door for $50 per family.

Not available for lunch duty? Come play golf Monday, October 15th (less than two weeks away!) Sign up as a foursome or an individual...we'll find you playing partners. I'm still looking for some. It's an easy way to spend an afternoon with old friends or make some new ones while supporting the school. Click here to register now.

Finally, above all else, please consider a gift to Annual Fund. We are doing a big push for 95% participation from parents this year. It's an audacious goal but you can help us meet it. Please consider a gift. Click here to donate now.

Please take advantage of any of these ways to get involved or volunteer to help at the Book Fair, or a field trip, or as a mystery reader. There are so many ways for you to participate and see the joy that happens here every day.

Inaugural Cross Country Season off to a Great Start!
We are half way through our first CYO Cross Country season and want to congratulate runners who have placed in races:
Patrick Robinson: First place (9/23) - Patrick beat the pace runner by 25 seconds!
William Hopkins: 8th place (9/23) and 5th place (9/30)
Sloan Conley: 10th place (9/23) and 11th place (9/30)
Luc Delany: 13th place (9/30)
Remy Delany: 13th place (9/23)
Caden Campbell: 14th place (9/16) and 12th place (9/23)
All of our runners are having fun and we see so much improvement among them as the season progresses!  Our kids have shown real grit - training in the heat, running in the rain - and displays of integrity and spirit abound.  The photo above was taken at last week's meet.  That's teamwork!  We also want to thank the parents who help us wrangle 55 kids at practices and keep the show running at meets - we could not do this without your help and support.
Every fall parents in each grade gather for a Class  Social . These fun parties are a great   BSS   tradition which allows parents to mingle, catch up with old friends, and meet new ones. A family in each grade hosts the  social  for the entire class at their home. Details and invitation will be forthcoming.

Calling New Families!!
We are looking for new families to be a part of the Greg Gannon Canned Food Drive
