Dear Parents,

Great Back to School Night week!

Thank you to all of the parents who came to find out about the exciting school year ahead for your children. Thank you to the teachers for helping the evenings to flow so positively. Thank you to all of the volunteers who a) volunteer and b) man tables in the gym to solicit more volunteers. Thank you to all of the Home and School and School Advisory Board parents that help the school in that capacity (particularly the Hospitality committee of HSA for the munchies). Thank you to Grace and Brian for presenting the benefit theme with such a great video.

The beginning of the year has been very positive so far but just when we got things mostly smoothed out on Chevy Chase Parkway (No U-turns), they have decided to repave it. The work began today and will continue into next week. I am uncertain as to when we will be able to use it. Please plan accordingly. (We will send home information as soon as we know when it will reopen.) We would urge parents to consider coming just a few minutes earlier next week. If we can get enough children dropped off between 7:45 and 8:00, we will be able to get many more cars through the blacktop. We will be mindful of potential challenges and a little more lenient with late slips until this paving project is complete. Please be patient with us through these couple of days. Please be patient as well turning into the apartment parking lot. We'll do what we can to help move cars along, try to keep your drop off as brief as possible.

Thank you, enjoy your weekend.

Attention: We were made aware of suspicious men in a white van approaching a student from Deale yesterday near Reno Road and 39th Street. The child ignored them and rode his bike away. The police have been notified. Just a reminder to have children be aware of surroundings and avoid strangers.
