Dear Parents,
Another busy week here at school! Among other things, today the Student Council sponsored a "Pink Out" for $1 to support Breast Cancer Awareness.
Parenting Workshop - We had our first Parenting Workshop here on Tuesday night. This was geared toward parents of 3rd-5th graders and is a partnership between the parish and the school to help parents navigate the elementary school years. We will have additional workshops after the holidays for K-2 and middle school parents. Thank you to Ann Hoffman for helping to make this happen.
Personal Safety Education - Every year we speak with the students about personal safety. These topics range from internet safety, to being aware of surroundings, to establishing personal boundaries and speaking to trusted adults about any uncomfortable situations.
This will take place with the students over the course of the next month or so. Ms. Matejik will be speaking with the children in K-5 and the advisors will work together to speak with the boys and girls separately in middle school. We like to let parents know about this in case your children come home with any questions and we encourage you to reach out to us if there is any way we can support you.
School Safety - MPD has received concerns from neighbors and parents regarding the traffic on Chevy Chase Parkway and Patterson Street. As part of their community outreach efforts, they will be coming by periodically to ensure the safety of our students during arrival and dismissal. As a reminder, doors close and lock at 8:15 am. Students arriving after must enter through the main entrance. Students have been instructed not to open the exterior doors.
Enjoy the Fall like weather this weekend.
Faithfully,
Chris Kelly
