On Wednesday afternoon, we had the pleasure of celebrating an exciting milestone in the renovations at Weaver Park! The Huntingdon County Board of Realtors generously pledged $7,500 toward the new pavilion, an important addition to this growing community space.

The pavilion is a beautiful enhancement to what will soon be an incredible all-accessible park designed to bring people of all abilities together. We are grateful for this generous support and excited to see the vision for Weaver Park continue to come to life.

Congratulations Huntingdon Borough on this wonderful step toward completion! We look forward to celebrating the finished park and all it will offer our community!

Pennsylvania House Moves to Revive Dormant $2 Billion Economic Program

Robert Switf, Capitolwire

October 20, 2026

An eleventh hour effort to revamp the unused $2 billion state EDGE economic development tax credit could be in the works as the legislative session winds down. The Democratic-controlled House voted 193-10 Monday for a new version of House Bill 1667 overhauling the EDGE tax credit. HB 1667 is before the Republican-controlled Senate Rules and Executive Nominations Committee, but no votes were taken on it Tuesday. The new version of HB 1667 levies a new electric consumption fee for data centers of 2 cents per kilowatt hour to underwrite annual rebates for households. The fee would generate $234 million in Fiscal Year 2028/29 providing for rebates of $43 for nearly 5.4 million households, according to a fiscal note by the House Appropriations Committee. HB 1667 also repeals the local resource manufacturing tax credit and revises terms for the three other existing tax credits.

The Legislature Didn't Act On Skill Games by The PA Supreme Court's Deadline. What Happens Now?

New Castle News

October 20, 2026

Skill games are beginning to disappear from businesses and social clubs across Pennsylvania after state lawmakers let this week’s court-imposed deadline pass without action. Legalizing skill games has broad support as many lawmakers covet the revenue that taxes on the machines would bring to deficit-plagued state budgets, and oppose creating hardships for the businesses and social organizations that host skill games and depend on the money they bring in. But the details of what a regulatory and taxation scheme would entail have stymied a deal between the Democratic-controlled state House and Republican-led state Senate. While legislative leaders said they wanted to act before the deadline, none made a public push to move legislation. The current two-year legislative session is winding down, meaning action before the end of 2026 is likely out of the question. What happens next year may depend on the outcome of the Nov. 3 election.

Did you know........

Small businesses represent the largest segment by number of most local chamber membership rolls. Results in the research study by The Shapiro Group, Inc. and Market Street indicate the impact of local chamber membership on small businesses is very powerful. If a consumer knows a small business is a member of its local chamber, the business enjoys a 44 percent increase in its consumer favorability rating, a 51 percent increase in consumer awareness, a 57 percent increase in its local reputation and a 63 percent increase in the likelihood that consumers will patronize the business in the future.

Research indicates that chamber membership stimulates business-to-business commerce in the local community. Other businesses in town are more likely to do business with you and your company if you are a member of the local chamber. Because a major part of a small business typically comes from business-to-business services, it is essential to maintain a positive standing within the local business community.
