Key Mayoral Appointments for Construction Industry


As newly elected Mayor Eric Adams begins to fill his cabinet, his selections bode well for BTEA New York’s longstanding relationship with these newly appointed cabinet members. Welcome and congratulations to the following cabinet members: 


  • Lorraine Grillo, former Senior Advisor for Recovery at City of New York and former New York City School Construction Authority Department of Design and Construction Commissioner will serve as First Deputy Mayor.
  • Maria Torres-Springer has been appointed Deputy Mayor for Economic Development and Workforce Development.
  • Commissioner of Transportation is Ydanis Rodriquez, a former City Council member who was Chair of the Transportation Committee for eight years.
  • Commissioner of Small Business Services is Kevin D. Kim, an attorney, entrepreneur, and public servant.

BTEA New York Luncheon with Governor Kathy Hochul


The Building Trades Employers' Association of New York cordially invites our members to join us at an exclusive construction industry luncheon with Governor Kathy Hochul.

New York City Sees a Jump in Construction Projects


As we transition to a higher level of normalcy in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Real Estate Board of New York (REBNY) is reporting an increase in construction project filings. Quarter four of 2021 saw a 37 percent increase from the third quarter and a 22 percent increase year-over-year.
