BTEA Hosts Quarterly Meeting with the BCTC

The Building Trades Employers’ Association (BTEA) and the Building Construction Trades Council of Greater New York (BCTC) held their quarterly meeting on October 31st. Topics discussed included updates on 421-a, EDC projects utilizing prevailing wage, New York Construction Classification Premium Adjustment Program (CPAP), Mayor Adams Capital Task Force, Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), worker wellness and suicide prevention, and wage theft.

New York State Senator Jeremy Cooney Visits the BTEA

Senator Cooney from Rochester chairs the Senate’s Procurement Committee and is a member of several important committees including Commerce, Economic Development and Small Business, Finance, Insurance, Transportation, and the Select Task Force on MWBEs. We had a productive meeting during which we discussed the various ways Senator Cooney can assist our membership, with a particular focus on insurance legislation and how insurance costs can be reduced for contractors.

BTEA Attends the BCTC Workforce Development Conference

BTEA President & CEO Elizabeth Crowley was pleased to join the 2nd Annual BCTC Apprenticeship & Workforce Development Training Summit on October 18th and 19th. It was a productive Conference with several important topics of discussion, including Apprenticeship and Training, Renewable Energy Projects, Diversity & Inclusion, and Mentorship & Mental Health.
