BTEA New York Co-Chairman Pat A. Di Filippo Elected to National Academy of Construction

We congratulate Pat A. Di Filippo, Executive Vice President of Turner Construction Company, Co-Chairman of BTEA New York and Chairman of the Contractors’ Association of Greater New York, Inc., for being elected to the National Academy of Construction (NAC). NAC’s CEO applauded “Di Filippo’s advocacy for opening up opportunities to diversify the work force and for excellence in iconic construction projects have had incredible impact.”

BTEA New York President and CEO Louis J. Coletti’s Op-Ed in the Gotham Gazette Advocates for Amendments to Carlos’ Law 

Louis J. Coletti published an opinion piece in the Gotham Gazette to further BTEA New York’s efforts to amend Carlos’ Law, which is awaiting Governor Kathy Hochul’s signature.

In the op-ed, Coletti expounded on BTEA New York’s letter sent to the Governor in June, stating that “with some minor changes, Carlos’ Law would act as a deterrent against unscrupulous contractors without punishing the upstanding ones. Instead of keeping MWBEs at arm’s length, it would embrace them.”

New Report Shows New York City Construction Activity Outpacing Year-Over-Year Totals; Louis J. Coletti Praises Continued Economic Recovery 

The Real Estate Board of New York’s (REBNY) Q2 2022 findings, released on August 9, shows that there were 422 new building filings in the quarter, a 19% increase year-over-year.

In a Real Estate Weekly article, Louis J. Coletti lauded the positive data while emphasizing that “our industry is essential for the continued economic recovery of New York.” Coletti cited a recent study that “construction and Real Estate comprise 20% of New York City’s GDP while providing 10% of jobs and 5% of wages; and each $1 million spent on construction creates a total of eight jobs in the City.”
