5th Annual Standdown
On Friday, May 2, more than 600 workers will pause at the MGH jobsite to remember all those who have lost their life to SUD and mental health challenges, while calling for support to end this crisis. NFL Legend Matthew Slater will address the crowd along with MGH, the Turner-Walsh team, BTEA and Union Leaders to showcase the united effort.

While announcing a 90-day pause on the sweeping reciprocal tariffs, President Trump simultaneously raised the tariff on Chinese goods to 125% effective immediately. The move stems from Chinese retaliation and a willingness to negotiate terms by many other countries levied with tariffs.

Industry Groups Launch National Careers in Construction Week
Around nine in 10 members of Gen Z — those born between 1997 and 2012 — said learning a skilled trade can be a better route to economic security than college, according to a Thumbtack survey. Trade Groups like SMACNA National and the SMART ITI launched a campaign last week designed to encourage next gen participation in the trades, primarily through education about the trades via social media.

- Construction crane counts dropped 19%, approximately 30 cranes, across major U.S. cities in Q1 2025.
- The Project Stress Index, a measure of construction projects that have been paused, abandoned or have a delayed bid date, increased 1.1% in March. That marks a 13.7% increase over 2021 levels, the benchmark year for the index, according to ConstructConnect.
