Getting Your Band Back Together
No matter whether you’ve been out of the Band for six weeks or 60 years, it’s always fun to reconnect with those who you marched and played with. That’s why we’re encouraging all Alumni, former Boosters, chaperones and supporters to spread the word about the 75th Anniversary Reunion.

The weekend will consist of a marching rehearsal and pizza social on Friday, participation in the Sound of Music Parade and an evening social on Saturday and a Concert in the Park on Sunday. All that for only $30 per person (plus fees and service charges).

To book your tickets for the June 17 to 19 reunion visit: https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/burlington-teen-tour-band-75th-reunion-tickets-305116069377.

And once you’ve registered, be sure to tell all your old Band friends that you did. You never know who might show up if you they know you’re going to be there.
On Parade
What better way to celebrate 75 years of Band history than to get out onto the street and march like it’s 1999 (or 1959 or even 2019).

Don’t have an instrument? No problem. We’ve made a deal with Long & McQuade that will give Alumni 25% off any new rental between now and June 30, 2022. All you need to do is download the coupon and present it Long & McQuade when you book your rental. We are also quite fortunate to have the instruments for our percussion section sponsored by Yamaha thanks to Alumnus Steve Butterworth.

Want to march, but dont want to play? You’re more than welcome to do just that. We’d like to have as many people participating in the parade as possible, whether that’s playing every note or just walking along (mostly) in step, we’re happy to have you.

What if I can’t walk the full route? There are plenty of options. If you’d like to be among the ranks and you use a mobility device, you can wheel or drive along. If you’d prefer a ride, we have a float available that will be right there with the Band.*

I’m already in the parade. Will there be a way for me to join the Alumni Band? Yes, of course. As in the past we will have a bus to take parade participants back from the end to the beginning so you can do it all over again.

What will the uniform be? Is it included? All costs for the events over the entire weekend are included in your registration. Everyone who registers before May 31 will receive a 75th Reunion hat to be worn during the parade. Those who register after May 31, may still be able to get a hat, but only while supplies last. We are not requiring a uniform top, but to give the Band a uniform look, we are asking that whatever you wear be navy blue. The style and colour of what you wear on the bottom is up to you.

What music will we be playing on parade? Marching music, of course. Exactly which pieces from the last 75 years will be featured is still being worked out. If you have a favourite you’d like to play, send your thought to Music Committee chair Sean MacNeil at: macneilsean713@gmail.com.

* If you would like to book a place on the float, please select a “General Admission with Trailer Seat for the Parade” ticket when you register.
Need a Place to Stay for the Weekend?
If you need a room for the 75th Anniversary Reunion, the Alumni has negotiated a special rate for the weekend with the Sandman Hotel on South Service Road and Burloak Drive in Oakville. You can book either a room with two queen beds or one king bed for $129 plus tax. Rooms must be booked by May 20 and you'll need to quote group number #177564. Reservations can be made by calling 1-800-SANDMAN.
Volunteers and Sponsors Still Needed
One of the reasons we’ve been able to keep the cost of the 75th so low is thanks to our amazing sponsors. If you are interested in helping sponsoring the reunion, or if you know someone who is, please contact Bob Webb at: robertwebb@sympatico.ca.

While work on the reunion is well underway, there are still a number of volunteer opportunities available either to help organize the event or to help out at the event itself. If you’d like to volunteer please contact Sara Hanson Amphlett at: Sara.Hanson.AmphlettBTTBAA@gmail.com.
What about COVID?
Organizers are continuing to monitor the ongoing COVID situation carefully and are committed to hosting as safe an event as possible. However, we realize that the lingering pandemic may be preventing some Alumni from registering. If you do register and need to cancel due to COVID concerns, we will refund your registration fee (less the service charges). Further, if the event is cancelled, we’ll be refunding everyone’s registration fees (less the service charges). If any changes do need to be made to the weekend’s schedule of events due to local or provincial health regulations, we will update the membership as soon as possible.
