Friday – More than Just a Marching Rehearsal
The 75th kicks off on Friday night at 7 p.m. with a rehearsal to make sure that the parade participants remember which end of the instrument to blow into and can still tell their left foot from their right. The plan is to do a little work on the repertoire before marching around the Music Centre parking lot until we think we've got the hang of it or we decide that we've had enough. Then, at about 8:30 p.m., we'll repair to Central Arena for pizza and refreshments (cash bar of beer, wine, pop and water). Even if you're not taking part in the rehearsal or the parade, you're more than welcome to come and join us for a bit of social time and a slice or two.
Roll Off, Quick March!
Not only will close to 250 Alumni take to the streets on Saturday morning to perform in The Sound of Music's Grand Festival Parade, but the Alumni as a whole have been given the great honour of being named the parade's Grand Marshals. This isn't the first time the title has been bestowed on a group. The Teen Tour Band itself was named Grand Marshal in 1997 to celebrate our 50th anniversary.

Those who are marching, walking or riding* in the parade are asked to be at the Music Centre by 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 18 so we can get lined up and be ready to step off. Participants are asked not to try and park at Music Centre, Arena or Library as those areas will be needed for parade prep. Parking should be available on the side streets around the area. For those who are already marching in the parade with another unit, there will be a Burlington Transit bus waiting for you at the end of the route to take you back to the beginning to do it all over again with the Alumni. Please make your way to the bus as soon as possible so you don't miss us.

The uniform will consist of the 75th Anniversary ball cap (assuming you registered in time), a navy blue top (including either the 75th or 70th reunion shirts) and whatever you'd like on the bottom.

If you're not planning on marching with us, we'd love to see you along the parade route as it winds its way through downtown Burlington. The parade starts at Central Park; travels westbound along Caroline Street to Elizabeth Street; south on Elizabeth to James Street; westbound on James before turning north on Brant Street and ending at Central High School.

If you still need our marching music, you can download Strike Up The Band (Eric Ford arrangement), The Thunderer, The Hustle, Prince of Thieves and El Dorado from our website at: www.bttbalumni.ca/parademusic.html. We are still looking for some bell parts, but everything else should be there**.

If you need an instrument, you can rent one from Long and McQuade, who is offering discount rentals for Alumni. We will have some Sousaphones and lyre-style bells available. If you need one or the other, please contact Francis Smith at: francis.smith@burlington.ca as soon as possible. Parade percussion is being organized by Colin Ballantyne and he and the parade team is looking after finding drums for all those involved. If you are planning on playing in the drumline for the parade, please contact Colin at: colinballantyne@gmail.com to let him know. The Colour Guard and Majorettes are being organized by Robyn Garnier who can be contacted at: drumcorpsrobyn@hotmail.com.

* If you would like to book a place on the float, please select a “General Admission with Trailer Seat for the Parade” ticket when you register.

** The Eric Ford arrangement of Raindrops is also included in one of the downloads, but we will not be playing it on parade.
Saturday Night is Going to be a Fun Night
Once the parade's all over and you've had the afternoon to recover, it's time to head back to Central Park for an evening of fun with your Band friends. Things get underway at 7 p.m. and will feature a relaxed atmosphere that will allow you to share a laugh, have a drink and tell a few tales. Once again, we'll be selling beer, wine pop and water and will be providing snacks, but there will be no formal dinner. However, we have arranged for Red Door Cucina to bring their wood-fired pizza oven to Central Arena to sell Margarita, Calabrese (both vegetarian) and Pepperoni pizzas for $15 each. These gourmet pizzas are hand rolled, thin crust and made with double zero flour. Payments can be made via credit/debit card or cash.

The evening will also feature a performance by the current Teen Tour Band, a viewing area where you can watch a slideshow of photos from the last 75 years and a chance to have some fun in the photobooth with you Band family and friends.

And if you're looking for a memento to either remember the 75th or to celebrate your time in the band, the Boosters will be on hand to sell Teen Tour merchandise, including a special 75th Anniversary T-shirt, and copies of the 60th Anniversary DVD put together by John Peachey in 2007.

As an extra special treat, the Boosters will be raffling off a beautiful quilt made and donated by alumna Nancy (Snowberger) Parnham (Flute, 1973-1979). Proceeds will be split between the Boosters and the Alumni.
Do you Have your Smart Serve Certification?
We are still looking for people to help us out with beer and wine sales on both Friday and Saturday nights. You must be Smart Serve certified and willing to work one or both nights. You will be paid $20/hour (roughly 6:30 to 11:30 p.m.). If you are interested in helping us out, please contact Lee-Anne Richardson at: lee_annerichardson@hotmail.com.
Concert Rehearsal Reminder
Thanks to all those who came out to last Wednesday's rehearsal for June 19th's Concert in the Park. It was a whole lot of fun for the Alumni to get a chance to play with both the current Teen Tour Band and the Junior Redcoats. If you are planning on playing the concert and missed the first rehearsal, you will need to attend the one on Wednesday, June 15 (6:30-9 p.m. with the first note being played at 7 p.m.). The concert itself will take place at the Central Park Bandshell starting at 7:30 p.m.
Join Your Fellow “Band Geeks” For a Special Screening
Alumna Morgan Elliott's documentary on the BTTB's trip to the 2018 Tournament of Roses will receive a special screening at The Westdale in Hamilton on June 28 at 7 p.m. The event will not only include a showing of Band Geeks, but a post-show Q&A with both Morgan and BTTB Managing Director Rob Bennett. Tickets are available online at: www.thewestdale.ca/event/band-geeks.

What a perfect coda to the 75th celebrations.
