At long last we are able to announce the pieces the Alumni Band will be playing during the Sound of Music Festival Grand Parade.
Drum roll (or should that be a roll off) please...
Strike Up The Band (Eric Ford arrangement)
The Thunderer
The Hustle
Prince of Thieves
El Dorado
Many of these pieces will be familiar to past Alumni Band participants as we've played them before, but for those who may not have played them since your time in Band (or not at all) copies of the music will be available soon on our website: www.bttbalumni.ca.
Don't know one or more of the pieces and don't think you'll have time to learn them before June 18? No problem. Our goal is to have feet on the street. If you only play one song, don't worry about it. Want to use a lyre for your part? As long as you're not so consumed with reading your music that you march over the person in front of you, we're fine with it. Want to be in the parade, but not play? You're more than welcome to march, walk or ride along.* Need an instrument? Long and McQuade is offering discount rentals.
If you are planning on participating in the parade, we request (but don't require) you to come to the Friday night marching rehearsal at the Music Centre. Not only will it be a good chance to make sure you still remember which foot is which, it'll also give us an opportunity to see how we sound before hitting the streets in the morning.
A big thanks to Sean MacNeil and his committee for putting all this together.
* If you would like to book a place on the float, please select a “General Admission with Trailer Seat for the Parade” ticket when you register.
