PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCES

Parent/Teacher Conferences are scheduled for Tuesday, March 9th from 4:30 pm to 7:30 pm, and Thursday, March 11th from 4:30pm to 7:30pm. All conferences will be held via Zoom. Time slots are limited for each teacher, so we are asking that you prioritize who you need to speak with via Zoom. To schedule a conference, you are asked to reserve a 10-minute time slot using Canvas Scheduler in your student's Canvas courses.  When using Canvas Scheduler, your student will be the one to sign up for the time slot and then the observer of the student will be able to see the appointment on the calendar.
For a quick tutorial on how to use Canvas Scheduler, please see this resource:

Recommended Best Practices for Zoom Conferences:
  1. Parents/Guardians should use their first and last names as their Zoom screen name. If you do not have your name listed, the teacher will not know who to let into the meeting.
  2. Conferences must be limited to 10-minutes maximum. If more time is needed, then additional time should be requested through the Counseling Office.
  3. If you do not have access to internet and would prefer a phone conference, please send your correct phone number and email address to the teacher. Your student still needs to reserve the time through Canvas Scheduler.

Counselors will also be available to meet with parents.
If you need to schedule a meeting with your child's counselor, please email Ms. Shelley Kerr, Counseling Secretary at kerrsh1@tulsaschools.org.

Ms. Angela Jones: counselor for all 9th graders
Ms. Consuela Franklin: 10th-12th grade, last names A-G
Ms. Mary Beth Lykins: 10th-12th grade, last names H-Pa
Ms. Jennifer Sack: 10th-12th grade, last names Pe-Z

BTW SWIM TEAM
BTW Hornets Swim Team 2020-2021 Season

The Hornets boys and girls swim teams recently wrapped up their 2020-2021 season - a season that was full of challenges like no other! Amidst the global pandemic, the team was able to safely hold a few home meets with other teams - including Senior Night - before having to shift to virtual meets (where they computed race results with other teams that swam at their own pools.) Congratulations to Head Coach Adina Meilner and assistants Jenny Barcus-Schafer, Alton Wallace, and Jenn Salcher for leading the team through a crazy season! Here are some of the highlights.
The swimmers were excited to celebrate 3 new school records this season. On the girls’ side, junior Lola Barcus-Schafer set a new record in the 100 Meter Backstroke with a time of 1:09.77. On the boys’ side, senior Logan Poellinger set two new records: in the 50 Meter Freestyle with a time of 24.76 and in the 100 Meter Freestyle with a time of 55.68. Way to go, Lola and Logan!

At the 6A East Regionals Championship in early February, the Hornets had 6 girls and 2 boys qualify for individual events for the 6A State Championship. The girls team qualified for all 3 relays, and the boys team qualified for 2 relays. Congratulations to all of our swimmers who qualified for State!

With the winter storms disrupting workouts and delaying the State meet, the team had to rely on their season’s worth of training as they headed to the 6A State Championship Prelims at the Jenks Aquatic Center on February 24th. Congratulations to these swimmers and relay teams who qualified for the State Championship Finals that were held on February 25th!

If you’re interested in joining the swim team, watch for news later in the spring about try-outs that are *usually* held right after school lets out for the year.

The team - like everyone else - is hoping that the 2021-22 season will be back to normal!
