On Tuesday the Milken Institute, Cal Matters and the Los Angeles Times hosted a Homelessness and Housing Townhall. The panel topics covered by the Townhall included; "Addressing Homelessness" - Where are we and how did we get here?, "Housing and Land Use" - How do land use, funding and cost, legal, regulatory, development, and NIMBY issues relate to housing for the homeless? and "Housing Supply and Displacement" - What can state and local leaders do to make sure homes and units are built while supporting residents at risk of displacement?
The event featured a live taping of CalMatters "GimmeShelter" podcast, with California Homelessness Task Force Co-Chairs, Los Angeles County Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas and Sacramento Mayor Darrell Steinberg.
