Carmel Partners, a BIA-LAV Executive Committee Member through the leadership of Neils Cotter, has released the renderings for Cumulus. Cumulus is the mixed-use complex that is now rising next to the Expo Line's La Cienega/Jefferson Station. Cumulus is located on an 11-acre site with a seven-story podium-type building and a 30-story tower that will feature a combined 1,210 apartments and 100,000 square feet of retail space. Both buildings will wrap around a one-acre publicly-accessible green space. Learn more, here .
BIA-LAV was on hand this week at City Hall to express concern over a motion by Councilmen O’Farrell (CD13) and Ryu (CD4) that would essentially encourage downzoning in some areas of Echo Park and Silver Lake. The motion asks that The Planning Department—in the midst of the most severe housing shortage on record—to look at existing zoning in these areas, and come back with “recommendations for zoning/land use amendments to ensure that any potential future development complements, and is consistent with the scale and character of the existing lower density built environment…” BIA-LAV is opposed to any report which would suggest downzoning during the Community Plan Update process.

DuctTesters was established because a tremendous disconnect had been recognized between the developer/builders and their trade contractors, as related to Title 24 Part 6 compliance. DuctTesters has been working to close that gap by helping each of the trades involved to understand what their contribution is and how it fits into the larger picture, now and for the future. Since their establishment, DuctTesters has grown from a training entity to a full blown energy consultant, and have been involved in more than 5,000 different projects! BIA-LAV is grateful for the active role and participation by DuctTesters through their V.P. of Sales & Marketing, BIA-LAV Board Member, Alyssa Trebil. Alyssa also is the Co-Chair of the BIA-LAV Events & Education Committee, a member of both the Trap Shoot, and Golf Committees and the 2018 BIA-LAV Board Member of the Year Award recipient.
