“As a multi-generational home builder doing business in Southern California for 72 years, building communities has always been important to us. Purchasing a home can be a stressful experience, and we want to make it as pleasant for our clients as possible. So if we hit permitting delays, that affects our home buyers’ move-in dates. Fortunately, we know that as a member of BIA-LAV, we can count on them to assist when permitting delays happen, so we can ultimately deliver homes for people. I strongly recommend BIA-LAV membership to anyone in the industry!”

BIA-LAV ADVOCATES FOR THE EL SERENO PROJECT
Senior Director of Government Affairs, Christine Rangel, was on hand to speak at an LA Neighborhood Council meeting this week, to support one of our members’ projects. The project, in the El Sereno area, will add 42 sustainably-built small lots to an existing vacant lot, bringing housing and economic investment to the community, improving recreational programs and parks, and enhancing neighborhood safety, all while maintaining consistency with the surrounding neighborhoods. Unfortunately, the neighborhood Council denied the project, due to NIMBY opposition. We will continue to advocate for Housing For All.

"California is a fascinating study of politics, housing and galvanized activism. It’s been said that as California goes, so goes the nation. But not always. And hopefully not in the way of vanishing middle class, extreme lack of affordable housing, stifling taxation and a number of other fundamentals that hide behind the world’s 5th biggest economy."
