BUILDing a Bright Future Together

This summer has been an exciting season for Family Humanitarian. We are thrilled to share a few important milestones that reflect the growth, vision, and impact of our mission.

Welcoming New Team Members

We welcomed four new full-time team members, including two who are spearheading the launch of Family Humanitarian clean water projects in Zambia. We now have full-time teams in Ghana, Uganda, Kenya, and Zambia. Their dedication expands our reach and deepens our commitment to bringing sustainable water solutions to communities in need.

Training in Kenya: A Global Gathering

Thanks to the generosity of our corporate partners, all of our African teams came together in Kenya this August for training and collaboration. The teams were also joined by our Board Chairman, Sheldon Killpack, Executive Director, Michaela Shirley, and other key partners.

Kristyn and Brent Allred from the Utah State University Jon M. Huntsman School of Business provided valuable leadership workshops.

The theme for the training was BUILD:

  • Building trust
  • Building self
  • Building teams
  • Building communities

Stories from the Field

Our African teams shared powerful experiences of both challenges and successes in their work. They spoke about:

  • Building trust with local leaders
  • Approaching each project with humility and teamwork
  • Remaining adaptable and open-minded in new circumstances
  • Staying committed to promises and expectations

Their stories highlighted how much heart, integrity, and collaboration are invested in every Family Humanitarian project.

Next Meter Partnership:

Taking clean water projects to the next level

We were also joined by the owners of one of our most valued partners, Next Meter, who worked directly with our in-country teams to train on the coming NextVillage technology.

Next Meter engineers are developing a groundbreaking product that will:

  • Provide real-time virtual updates on water usage for each well
  • Send predictive maintenance alerts to ensure sustainability

Their goal is to begin retrofitting wells in early 2026 once manufacturing is complete. This innovation will bring even more transparency for donors, allowing every supporter to see exactly how their contributions are making an impact.

Transparency has always been a top priority for Family Humanitarian. Currently, you can visit the “Our Work” page on the Family Humanitarian website to view GPS points and photos of every completed water project.

Imagine soon being able to track the flow of water from every well we install—together, we’re building a future of hope and accountability.

Looking Ahead

The future is bright for Family Humanitarian. In the coming months, watch for our newsletters as we introduce you to our new African team members and share updates on their exciting work.

Together, we are BUILDing trust, BUILDing communities, and BUILDing a better future.
