Greetings Bulls,

It is hard to believe we only have two more FULL weeks of school. Our teachers and students will continue to build their standard mastery through the end of the year. We will also continue to work in iReady until our student Chromebooks are collected on May 16, 17, and 18. Please remind your child to earn two lessons passed and fifty minutes of work in both reading and math next week so they can attend the iReady Pep Rally we have planned. Students have time to work on their progress at school and they are welcome to work at home. As always, feel free to reach out with any questions.

Letter to Families About Evolv Technologies:

Greetings Bulls,

HCS is continuing to roll out Evolv Technology, advanced weapon detection systems, to provide an additional layer of security to promote the safety of students and staff members. We are subject to having these systems at our school at any time, but we anticipate having them for the first time the week of May 8, 2023.

Please speak with your child about the updates below to our arrival procedures in the event we have these systems on campus. View video.

Drop Off and School Start Times

  • Drop-off times and school start times will not change.
  • Drop off will begin at 7:30 a.m.
  • School will start at 8 a.m.
  • We encourage families to drop off their students slightly earlier to provide them with a few extra minutes to get through the system.
  • Guests will continue to report to the front office.

Where to Enter

  • Car Riders: Enter through the gym doors of the school - like always.
  • Walkers: Enter through the back doors of the school by the cafeteria - like always.
  • Bus Riders: Enter through the back doors of the school by the cafeteria - this is a change to our normal entry point at the end of the 6th grade hall.

When Entering the Building

  • Staff members will be on-hand to greet students as they enter and request them to remove any laptops and water bottles from their book bags.
  • Students will walk through the Evolv system one at a time inside the school.
  • While walking through the system, all students do is hold up their Chromebook and water bottle in each hand.

Thank you for your support, and we appreciate your partnership in promoting the safety of our students and staff members. If you have any questions, please reach out to me at [email protected]

Very respectfully,

Natalie Smith
