Dear Alumni,
Welcome to the second issue of the Alumni Newsletter!
This winter, while braving the stormy weather here in Boston, we have kept spirits high with our annual wellness campaign, Winter Fun Fest, and excitedly welcoming our new intern class! Read below to see our Winter Fun Fest recap and find out details about the newest additions to the BUMC Residency community.
Winter is also a busy time for our our Primary Care Track and residents interested in General Internal Medicine. Read on for highlights from BUMC's representation at the Society of General Internal Medicine's regional and national meetings.
We are proud to announce the success of our most recent event, the first annual Health Equity Symposium hosted here at BUMC. The event drew participants from all over the BU/BMC and larger Boston area community and featured keynote speaker, acclaimed scholar of social determinants of health, Sir Michael Marmot.
Looking forward to Spring means bringing us closer to saying "Farewell" to Dr. Robert Witzburg - a BUSM student class of '77 and a BUMC resident class of '80, who is also a former chief resident and training director for the residency program. Below, Dr. Witzburg shares with us some memories and reflections from his years of dedicated service.
We are also excited to check in with Dr. Amir Meiri, a current PGY 3 resident, who strives to combine medicine with quality improvement and health policy to improve care throughout New England.
We are pleased to update you with stories from our residents and your fellow alumni. If you would like to contribute anything to share with your peers, please email
Mackenzie.Keyse@bmc.org, and we would be happy to feature it in a future newsletter.
I hope you enjoy this issue of the Alumni Newsletter and happy spring!
Sincerely,
Gopal Yadavalli, MD
Program Director
