OPENING DEVOTION

Dear Friends in Christ,

We are entering one of the most sacred and meaningful weeks of our faith, Holy Week. It is a journey that invites us to walk closely with Jesus: from the joy of Palm Sunday, through the solemnity of the cross, and into the hope and new life of Easter morning.

Throughout this week, I invite you to make space, intentionally, to be present with Christ.

Join us as we gather for our Holy Week services:

• Maundy Thursday (4/2) at 7:00 p.m. a time to remember Jesus’ love through Holy Communion and the ritual of hand washing

• Good Friday (4/3) at 7:00 p.m. a sacred space to reflect on the cross, sorrow, and the depth of God’s love for us, featuring a dramatic reading by members of BUMC

• Easter Sunrise Service at 6:30 a.m. (with breakfast to follow) welcoming the new day with hope and resurrection joy

• Easter Sunday Worship at 10:00 a.m. a joyful celebration of the resurrection, the promise that life, hope, and love have the final word

Easter reminds us that no darkness, no despair, no uncertainty is beyond God’s redeeming power. But our journey of faith does not end on Easter morning.

As part of our response to God’s love, we will gather for Rise Against Hunger on April 12. This is more than an event, it is an opportunity to live out the resurrection by serving others. Together, we will pack meals that will reach those who are hungry around the world. It is a tangible way we embody hope, compassion, and justice.

I encourage you to participate, to invite others, and to be part of this meaningful mission.

Finally, in this season, I want to gently remind us: we are not meant to walk this journey alone. Let us hold one another in prayer.

Pray for those who are grieving.

Pray for those who are weary.

Pray for those facing uncertainty.

And pray for one another, that we may be a community of love, support, and healing.

If you have a prayer request, please don’t hesitate to share it. It is a privilege to pray with and for you.

May this Holy Week draw you closer to Christ.

May Easter fill your heart with renewed hope.

And may we continue to rise together, as a community shaped by love.

With grace and peace,

Rev. Jennifer Cho

Basket Sunday by the United Women in Faith

Sunday, May 3rd

The United Women in Faith are busy making spring baskets which will be available to the highest bidder on May 3rd, the Sunday before Mother's Day. You may place your bids on these beautiful creations, put together by many women of the church, starting on April 19th and ending at 11:45 am in Fellowship Hall on May 3rd. Baskets will be on display the Sunday after "Rise Against Hunger" in the Narthex and in Fellowship Hall.

The proceeds of this silent auction will go to fund the United Women in FAITH budget which sponsors 2 "Lunch and Learn" seminars throughout the year, lends support to the Lydia Circle and Friendship Circle local mission projects, and donates to the national and international missions and missionaries of the United Women in Faith working in this country and around the world to create economic opportunities that support children, women and youth. Currently we are fighting to overturn the school to prison pipeline and create racial and ecological justice for all.

Come and be part of this amazing ministry and fellowship open to all!

SERVE

Food Drive Donations

Thank you for donating food to our neighbors. Please bring your non-perishable/non-expired items to the church, and place them in our “Food Bank” containers.

If you would prefer, you can bring your items to the Food Bank Network of Somerset County located at 7E Easy St, Bound Brook, NJ 08805. Thank you very much.

Chocolate Jar Invitation

Many of you have discovered the jar of chocolate in the church office. It has quietly become a small place of joy for staff, volunteers, and visitors who stop by during the week. A simple piece of chocolate can brighten someone’s day. Because it is enjoyed by so many, it has been a bit difficult to keep the jar filled each week. So we would like to invite anyone who would like to help to bring a bag of individually wrapped chocolates to share. If you happen to be at the store and feel inspired, simply drop your chocolate donation by the church office. Your sweet gift will surely bring smiles to many. Thank you for helping us keep a little sweetness flowing at church!

Used Clothing Drop-Off

BUMC will receive a small payment for each pound of clothing that is collected in the bin provided. Please support our church by donating your clean and lightly used clothing, shoes, sneakers, belts, purses, blankets, drapes, pillowcases, and stuffed animals.

(Not accepted: rags, fabric scraps, pillows, toys, books, or household goods.)

Thank you for your donations!

Chancel Guild

Would you like to honor a loved one’s birthday or anniversary with flowers on the credence shelf? Or you may like to remember the passing of a spouse, parents, or a loved one. The Chancel Guild ladies are happy to create a special fresh flower arrangement for you on a date on or near your special date. A sign up calendar is posted on the bulletin board leading to Fellowship Hall. A donation of $25 is requested to help defray the cost of the flowers, which are available to be picked up following the church service.

Coffee Fellowship Hour Volunteers

Coffee Fellowship is resuming in Fellowship Hall. We are looking for volunteers to provide snacks for our coffee fellowship following the Sunday worship service. A new sign-up sheet will be on the bulletin board tomorrow.
