| | Message from the Superintendent | | |
Dear Berryessa Community,
It is heartwarming to see our students and staff celebrate kindness and friendship this month. Thank you for helping nurture understanding and positive connections in and out of the classroom. Your daily efforts truly shape the welcoming, supportive environment we value across BUSD.
We are proud to honor Black History Month and recognize the many contributions African Americans have made to our nation and communities. We also celebrate Lunar New Year, a meaningful time of reflection, renewal, and cultural tradition for many of our students and families. Together, these observances offer opportunities to learn from one another and strengthen our shared commitment to inclusion, equity, and respect, cornerstones of who we are as a district.
As we begin our district enrollment period, we encourage you to share information about Berryessa Union School District with friends, family, neighbors, and others in the community. Like many districts across the state, we are experiencing enrollment challenges that have a significant impact on our programs and resources. Your partnership in helping families learn about the exceptional opportunities available at BUSD makes a meaningful difference.
Thank you for all you do to support our students and our community!
With BUSD pride,
Dr. Roxane Fuentes
Superintendent
| | BUSD Students Celebrate Super Bowl Excitement at Exclusive NFL Event! | | |
With the Super Bowl happening right here in our area, a major honor for the Bay Area, the NFL invited BUSD to join in the excitement. Students from each of our middle schools attended this special pre‑Super Bowl celebration.
Approximately 150 students enjoyed interactive activities, met NFL players, and learned more about the championship game taking place at the 49ers’ Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara. It was an energizing and memorable day for everyone. We hope everyone enjoys this weekend’s game and may the best team win!
Watch some of the highlights of this pre‑Super Bowl fun!

We are grateful for the enthusiasm shared by the students, teachers, and staff that joined the activities celebrating the Great Kindness Challenge. Small acts or big acts have an impact on the community! Highlights from this month include playing the Kindness and Respect Bingo, using the Appreciation Board, complimenting Tagalong with PE shouts, and writing amazing Teachers' letters.

| | How Demographic Shifts are Impacting BUSD Enrollment | | |
Our district is facing significant challenges with declining student enrollment, and projections show this trend continuing in the coming years. Lower kindergarten enrollment, fewer local births, and the high cost of housing, making it harder for young families to move into the area, are the main factors driving this decline.
Because our funding is tied to the number of students enrolled, reduced enrollment directly impacts our financial stability and the programs we can offer. We encourage our community to help by sharing information about BUSD with friends, relatives, and neighbors who may be considering schools. Your partnership is essential as we work to maintain the high‑quality educational opportunities our students deserve.
