Message from the Superintendent

Dear Berryessa Community,

As your superintendent, I would like to express my heartfelt thanks and appreciation to all of you during this historic year. What an incredible journey this has been! While the past year has tested us as a community - there is light on the horizon. It has taken all of us, working together, to get through a year that is unlike any other in history. While we could not control certain events that transpired, we did collectively choose how to respond to them to best support our students and one another. As a result, our BUSD community proved what we already knew, that we are strong and united in service of our students and in creating a successful pathway to the future. Together, parents, BUSD administration and staff joined efforts in new, meaningful ways, and motivated each other to keep going throughout these incredible times.

To our BUSD staff and families, thank you for wrapping your arms around our students this year. The Board of Trustees and I are so grateful and proud of what we have accomplished as a community.  Congratulations to all of our students for completing this year on a high note! Our graduating 8th graders and staff retirees are also especially commended for what they have accomplished. They will always remain a part of our school family! Eighth graders, we are so proud of you! To our retirees, thank you for your tremendous service to the Berryessa Union School District community!

We are eagerly looking forward to a full reopening this upcoming school year, and to seeing everyone again in our classrooms, safe and ready to learn! We sincerely hope that each of you will take time over these next few weeks to rest and reflect on all of the positive things that have come out of this unbelievable year. Maybe it was the resetting of priorities, or the focus on family time together, or just the fact that we all slowed down a bit. We have a lot to be grateful for. Take time this summer to unplug, get outside and reconnect with friends and family. Know that I, along with your Board of Trustees and the entire team at BUSD, will be here for you in the Fall as we continue to move forward together.

With BUSD pride,

Dr. Roxane Fuentes
Superintendent

The first day of school will be Monday, August 16th. Here is the calendar for the 2021-2022 school year.

For those who desire to continue a remote learning program, the state is developing an independent study option. More details will be available as soon as parameters are finalized by the state legislature. It’s important to continue to monitor your email for on-going school opening updates and efforts related to school safety protocols.
