| | Message from the Superintendent | | |
Dear Berryessa Community,
May is Staff Appreciation Month, and it gives us a special opportunity to pause and recognize the many people who make our schools places where students feel supported, valued, and known.
Every day, our teachers, support staff, and administrators show up for students, often in ways that are quiet and unseen, but always impactful. Whether it’s a reassuring word, extra time after school, careful preparation, or caring attention behind the scenes, this work matters deeply.
It truly takes a village to support students on their path to success, and we are fortunate to have such a dedicated, compassionate team here at BUSD. Your commitment helps students grow not only academically, but also in confidence, curiosity, and kindness.
We are proud of our BUSD team members and are grateful for the heart you bring to our schools every day.
With much appreciation,
Dr. Roxane Fuentes
Superintendent

| | 49th Annual Berryessa Art Festival on May 9 | | |
We are excited to invite our community to the 49th Annual Berryessa Art Festival on Saturday, May 9, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Penitencia Creek Park. This fun‑filled, family‑friendly event is open to the public and brings together art, music, food, and community spirit, all while raising funds that directly support Berryessa Union School District schools and other local schools. Proceeds from the festival enrich student learning by helping fund field trips, school sports, music and arts programs, technology resources, and more. One of the highlights of the day will be live performances by our talented BUSD students. Please come cheer them on and celebrate their hard work and creativity.
We are grateful to the Berryessa Art Festival and its supporters for their continued dedication to our students and schools, and we hope you’ll join us for a day of fun while supporting student success.

| Thank You, Santa Clara County Alliance of Black Educators | |
We extend our sincere appreciation to the Santa Clara County Alliance of Black Educators (SCCABE) for their continued support and commitment to our students. Through their annual awards recognition, SCCABE honored 15 outstanding BUSD students, including talented scholars and student‑athletes, celebrating their achievements, leadership, and dedication to excellence. We are proud of each student recognized and grateful for the encouragement this recognition provides.
In addition to the awards celebration, SCCABE hosted a Middle School Student Summit focused on college pathways last Friday at Evergreen Valley College. This impactful experience gave students the opportunity to learn more about higher education, ask questions, and imagine themselves on a college campus. Mr. Mosely proudly accompanied 25 students to the summit, helping ensure they had a meaningful and inspiring day.
We are thankful to the Santa Clara County Alliance of Black Educators for investing in our students’ futures and for being a strong partner in encouraging academic achievement, confidence, and college aspirations.
