As we approach the season of gratitude, the BUSD Board of Education and I are filled with appreciation for our remarkable Berryessa community. Your collective dedication and support continue to make our district an exceptional place for learning and growth.

In the spirit of the Thanksgiving holidays, we encourage our BUSD community to check in on one another. Take a moment to reach out to your classmates, colleagues, family members, and neighbors with a kind word or gesture. Think of ways to share our gratitude with one another and to help those who may be in need of our service.

Finally, on behalf of the BUSD Board of Education and District Leadership, we express our heartfelt gratitude to each member of our Berryessa community. Your partnership is key to the success of our BUSD family.

Our Elementary Parent Conference Week takes place the week of November 15th. Parent-teacher conferences are a great chance to strengthen the bond between home and school, positively impacting your child’s education. To get the most out of these meetings, here are some ways you can prepare.

Tips for a successful conference:

• Develop Questions in Advance: Write down any questions about your child's progress or areas of concern.
• Listen and Share: Be open to feedback and share your insights to help the teacher understand your child better.
• Focus on Positives: Celebrate your child’s achievements to keep the conversation encouraging.
• Create an Action Plan: Work with the teacher on steps to support your child's learning at home.

These meetings are all about creating a strong team with your child’s teacher. Look for communications from them and come ready to collaborate for your child’s success!

This season, our students at BUSD engaged in various exciting activities, from an outdoor Booster Fun Run to creative classroom projects and a spirited Halloween celebration. Our campuses were filled with autumn energy. These memorable experiences were made possible by the hard work and support of our parents, educators, and staff. The Berryessa Union School District Board of Trustees will hold a special study session on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, to discuss the School Consolidation Advisory Committee's recommendations.

We are thrilled to announce a series of recent accolades that our BUSD educators achieved. These awards underscore their commitment to providing outstanding education and support for all students. Let’s celebrate them!

Region 5 Expanded Learning Champions 2024-2025

On Friday, October 18, 2024, two BUSD educators were honored at the annual "Breakfast of Champions" event at the Elk's Lodge. This recognition celebrates exceptional contributors to after-school and summer learning programs in our region.



Our honorees:

• Dr. Joseph McCreary, Assistant Superintendent of Education Services (YMCA Silicon Valley)

• Dr. Samantha Rainer, Principal of Summerdale Elementary (City of San Jose - The ROCK Program)

The event, recognizing 30 awardees from Monterey, San Benito, Santa Clara, and Santa Cruz Counties, presented honorees with personalized Wheaties cereal boxes and framed certificates. BUSD is proud and honored to have these educators who have significantly enhanced the quality of extended learning opportunities for our students
