Message from the Superintendent

 Dear Berryessa community,

This season reminds us to pause and reflect on all we have to be thankful for. Every day, I see countless students thrive. I have so much gratitude for the care and commitment shown across our schools.

I’m especially proud to share that Vinci Park and Summerdale were recognized in the Annual California Honor Roll. This distinction celebrates schools that demonstrate strong academic growth and a commitment to closing achievement gaps. It reflects the exceptional work of our students, the dedication of our teachers and staff, and the ongoing support of our families and local partners.

I am also proud to celebrate our sports teams! Congratulations to the Piedmont Girls Softball team, which ended their season perfectly with a record of 7-0, winning the North Division Section, and the Piedmont X-Country team, which got 2nd placeat the North Division Finals at Montgomery Hill Park.

Congratulations to the Sierramont 7th grade boys Cross Country team for taking 1st place in the Santa Clara County Cross Country Finals, Morrill’s “C” Boys Cross Country team won1st place, and Morrill’s 8th grade Boys Cross Country team won 2nd place at the Section Finals in Gilroy.

To our educators, thank you for your passion and professionalism. To our families and local partners, thank you for your encouragement, involvement, and partnership. Together, we continue to build a district rooted in learning and inclusion.

As we celebrate these holidays, I hope each of you finds time to rest and enjoy loved ones. On behalf of the Berryessa Union School District and the Board of Education, I wish you a wonderful and peaceful Thanksgiving season.

With BUSD pride,

Dr. Roxane Fuentes

Superintendent

Summerdale and Vinci Park on the California Honor Roll!

Congratulations, Summerdale and Vinci Park, for once again earning placement on theCalifornia Honor Roll Listfor the Educational Results Partnership (ERP).

The annual Honor Roll, presented by Educational Results Partnership, is part of the national Campaign for Business and Education Excellence. The Campaign engages business leaders in recognizing successful schools and educational systems that are preparing students with the fundamental skills needed to be successful in the workforce and in life. For ten years, ERP has presented the Honor Roll, the only school recognition program in partnership with state and local business leaders, using solely objective student achievement data as the criteria for recognition. The goal of the Honor Roll is to find and highlight successful schools and districts and encourage collaboration among educators on best practices for raising student achievement.

We appreciateeveryone's hard work in ensuring our students are making continuous academic progress and in a learning environment that is supportive and fun!

Celebrating Rob Trinidad, BUSD Teacher of the Year!

Congratulations, Morrill Middle School teacher, Rob Trinidad. On October 27, 2025, at the 55th Annual Teacher Recognition Celebration at the Santa Clara County Office of Education, our district honored Mr. Trinidad. Among the nearly 300 people who attended the event, Mr. Trinidad’s mom and aunt’s presence made the ceremony even more special. Both women are retired Berryessa teachers! Working at BUSD schools is part of their family history. They were so proud of Mr. Trinidad and grateful for his recognition! Thank you, Mr. Trinidad, for your outstanding contributions to BUSD!
