Kubota’s 630,000 SF, $70 Million

Western Distribution Center Accelerates

“Grant Line Business Park” in Elk Grove

Today marks a key economic development milestone for the city and the Sacramento region as Kubota Tractor Corporation proudly unveiled its state-of-the-art Western Distribution Center in Elk Grove, California. The grand opening ceremony was a celebration of vision, hard work, and community, as the project represents a significant investment in facilities, infrastructure, and employees both for Kubota and the City of Elk Grove.

The project emerged as the result of Kubota’s meticulous multi-city and multi-state search for the ideal location. Elk Grove and the greater Sacramento region not only met Kubota’s stringent criteria for location, cost, and talent, but the City of Elk Grove also proved to be a fitting local government partner that shares Kubota’s vision of “enhancing lives for tomorrow.”

The 631,465-square-foot, $70 million facility, situated on 45 acres of previously city-owned land, stands as a testament to the collaborative efforts between the entire Kubota team, key city staff, and the greater Sacramento region. The project received support from various entities, including the Greater Sacramento Economic Council and the Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development, which played key roles in securing a $2 million state tax credit under the California Competes program, instrumental in advancing the project.

The cutting-edge facility is one of only three such projects in the United States, built on sustainable principles aligning with Kubota’s global mission to optimize efficient operations through technology. The Western Distribution Center will serve as a hub for Western Division executive offices, Kubota University’s training classrooms, and a distribution network for farming, construction, and turf equipment, as well as repair parts destined for Kubota dealers and customers throughout the western United States.

The Western Distribution Center will bring approximately 150 permanent jobs and 400 construction jobs and is a significant addition to Elk Grove’s planned 400-acre Grant Line Business Park. This facility is the first of many new projects that will fill the area with millions of square feet of industrial and manufacturing space, attracting substantial capital investment, and providing employment opportunities for thousands of people.

Elk Grove’s Mayor, Bobbie Singh-Allen, joined by her City Council colleagues, summarized it best at the ribbon cutting event stating, “This project plants a flag to show other companies that Elk Grove and the Sacramento region are open for business, and we will support innovative and growing companies like Kubota as they seek to bring investment to our city and region.”
