Station Land Acquired for ACE Train

Commuter Rail Service in Elk Grove

Late last month the San Joaquin Regional Rail Commission (SJRRC) closed escrow on land for a station in Elk Grove, California, clearing a significant hurdle in the multi-year effort to bring the popular commuter rail service, Altamont Corridor Express (ACE), to the city. ACE, already linking thousands of commuters and visitors between the Central and Silicon Valleys daily, is set to make Elk Grove a stop on its expanded service between downtown San Jose and Sacramento.

The railway expansion marks a significant improvement in connectivity to the Bay Area and the Silicon Valley for Elk Grove and the Sacramento region’s residents, businesses, and employees, making Elk Grove an even more compelling destination for entrepreneurs and companies seeking to initiate or expand their businesses there. Connecting Elk Grove by rail to the world epicenter of innovation and venture capital, the project promises to foster economic growth, alleviate traffic congestion, and elevate the travel experience of commuters and visitors. The service also features a dedicated shuttle connection to the Sacramento International Airport from downtown Sacramento.

Echoing this sentiment Elk Grove Mayor Bobbie Singh-Allen said, “A new train station in Elk Grove is not just a transportation hub, but a gateway for connecting with our untapped potential. The station will close the gap between Elk Grove and the Bay Area, remove barriers like a lengthy commute for top talent, and provide further incentive for businesses to start in, or relocate to, Elk Grove.” With escrow closing on the Elk Grove station property, final design set to be completed by the end of 2024, and construction expected to conclude by the end of 2026, the project is well underway, heralding a promising new chapter for Elk Grove and standing as a testament to the city's unwavering commitment to progress and prosperity.
